I always used Robyn's definition of short-waisted, too. The waistband
of most women's pants always came up onto my ribcage. I'm very short
from hip to waist -- my waistline is only slightly more than an inch
above the top of my hipbones, and the bottom of my ribs little more
than an inch above my waist.

"Short rise" jeans were no help to me because I'm also unusually
long from hip to crotch, and short rise typically shortened the
hip-to-crotch measurement with the hip to waist still too long for
me so they fit completely funny, with not enough crotch room.

I usually buy men's jeans and pants, because the waist is lower,
and the space allowed for male anatomy gives me enough crotch room.
But I often use a belt or add darts in the back of the waistband
because a man's waist is measured a lot closer to the hip, hence wider.

While we're discussing odd proportions, movie stars aren't immune
from feeling that way. I saw Drew Barrymore on TV the other night
(Conan?), and she said that she thinks her body is totally unglamorous,
and looks like a Corgi dog -- long body with stubby little legs.

After looking through Drew's photos at imdb.com (internet movie
database), I could see why she might feel that way, especially standing
next to Cameron Diaz. Although it also looked like most of the time,
unless she was wearing a gown at an awards show, she unintentionally
wore clothing that exaggerated the short-legged look, such as overly
long jackets, and low-waisted outfits).

I'm starting to hate shopping. Seems now that I have a body that can fit
into normal sized clothes, no one is making clothing I like anymore.

I am sick of the following:

Stretch jeans. Ok, yes, they are more comfortable, but I'm sorry, they
look fake. Unless you buy really expensive jeans, stretch fabrics are an
excuse for designers to be lazy and not make things that actually fit right.

Disagree. Yes, crappy stretch jeans look like crap. But good stretch
jeans look fantastic and feel comfortable.

3/4 length sleeves. I want my whole sleeves! I doubt women were ever
going into stores thinking "Oh, if only they had shirts to show off the
sexiest part of my body: my forearms." This "trend" was invented by
clothing manufacturers so they could save money on fabric. It's a scam.

I love 3/4 length sleeves because I collect bracelets. Also, long
sleeves are always too short on me so I have to roll them up anyway.

Built-in layers. Those shirts and sweaters that look like there's another
shirt under them, but really it's just a sewn-in collar and cuffs . . .
dorkarama. It reminds me of children's clothing and uniforms. Oh, also
add "layrering tops" that are see-through. I'd like the option of not
layering, please.

Those "fake collar and cuffs" things are utter bull****, I agree.

In fact, I agree with the rest of your comments. Fortunately, the
Fashion Arbiters have declared low-rise "out" starting with the winter
collections, so actual pants should show up in stores by this spring.

Thank goodness for that! I went shopping for a work suit today, and came
home empty-handed because ALL the trousers in my new slimline size : ) were
hipsters. In striped grey flannel type material, for heaven's sake!

I hate that garbage - it's why I only shop at the places that still
carry the conservative/dress casual clothes. "Hipsters" are still not
"in" at the office and hopefully never will be.

I buy my everyday wear from places like Dress Barn.

Slacks can always be "dressed down", and for me they're more
comfortable than jeans especially since I can still take the waist in
when I lose weight, whereas this is harder to do with jeans.
