Default OT kinda - No cavities!

Today I went to the dentist for the first time in 6 years. My dentist used
to be married to my aunt, and some stuff happened in the divorce that made
it hard for me to be around him, and that's why I didn't go for so long,
but anyway that's not the point.

The point is I was scared my teeth would be full of cavities, but they
weren't! Aside from all the plaque the hygenist had to scrape off, my
teeth are healthy. I never had cavities as a kid either, while my sister
has had lots. I attribute my good dental health to the fact that I have
never been a big fruit juice or soda drinker. As a kid I preferred milk or
water, and as an adult I prefer water or the occasional diet soda.

Just one more good reason to avoid excess sugar.

Keep going more regularly. Most people lose their teeth not from cavities
but from gum disease which comes from plaque buildup.

Once you're past the "Wonder Years"... it's not about cavities.

It's about gum disease.

And that's not about sugar, it's about all that plaque.

Start flossing.

Ok, gotcha. I do floss, but probably not enough. Usually only once a day,
sometimes only every couple of days.

Pretty to think so. My younger sister and I have had three cavities
between us in our lives. My older sister and mother hardly have an
original tooth in their heads. During adolescence I *averaged* over a
gallon of regular Coke a day, and my younger sister wasn't far behind.
Apart from that we all ate pretty much the same and had the same dental
care.

I don't think sugar has much to do with it...i've eaten a lot of sugar most
of my life and still don't have a single cavity. I'm 46.
