Man, is this place dead. Wonder if it is just the holiday season or LC is
falling like any other fad diet? It is obvious that LC is not too popular
this time of year.

Hope people aren't gaining too much weight.

It is dead here, isn't it. I'm not so sure it has anything to do with LC
not being popular or even the holidays. It's just the normal ebb of
newsgroup life.

Anybody who is abandoning low-carb because of a holiday was never
really into it in the first place. Lifestyle change is a behaviour
learned over time - for some people - a LOOOOONG time. They'll be back
- whining about how much weight they gained. Been there - done that.
Now that I've come to grips with the fact that I just plain CAN'T eat
grain and dairy without killing myself - the holidays are something I
look forward to with gusto. Decorated the tree yesterday with my 3
year old grandson. We did it all without the aid of snacks and we had
FUN! LOL

ebb?

Have you been doing any cycling lately? I am going to Florida for a while
soon and hope to ride all the time. Ride my bike to the beach and swim. I
can't wait for some sunshine.

Yeah....low tide

Yeah....after over a month off (work, weddings, illness), I started up again
on Thanksgiving. I got about 150 miles over last Thur - Sunday. However, I
crashed on Saturday when crossing some railroad tracks that when almost
parallel to the road so that my front wheel got in the gloove. Rolled over,
helmet scraped against the road, tore my jacket, jersey, and messed up my
tights. Also, my left shifter got moved on the bar to the inside in
addition to getting all scratched up. But after getting the bike fixed, I
got 53 miles in on Sunday. I have a century ride in Charleston SC this
Saturday. I'm not sure if I'm really up for it, though, but I'm going to
try anyway.

Cool. Have a good trip! I plan to ride all winter though I won't be doing
as many miles (~35 per ride).

It looks to me like LC is, indeed, a dying fad. After January 1st we may
see some new diet become popular, or perhaps several diets will be touted in
the media instead of low carb. People get tired of the same old thing. The
news media has to keep things fresh to keep people interested.

I'm wondering why you would call LC a *fad* diet. For many people here it
is a WOE for the rest of thier lives.

It is obvious that LC is not too popular
this time of year.

Who claimed this?

Any diet is a dying fad since humans have a hard time following ANY plan for
any length of time. For me LC won't be a fad because I pay no attention to
what the media has to say about anything.

Quite a few of the frequent / high volume posters have gone on posting on other
groups (e.g. Damsel has gone to AFC) or have been posting rather infrequently
because they've pretty important things to deal with in their lives (e.g.
Carmen, Lorelei). Luna has gone very quiet recently. Even our resident "troll"
JC has to deal with extra workload this semester. Also there aren't very many
newbies coming through the doors since August.

What we need now, to get the traffic up again, is a preesi or a deeder!
