Does low carb not work for some people?
George,
Have you tried the diet for 2 weeks without artificial sweeteners, sweet beverages, dried milk, skim milk, or apple juice? Have you tried avoiding soy sauce for 2 weeks? How do you prepare your tomatoes and in what quantity? I suggest that you try this: Eat beef, chicken, fish, eggs, oil, butter, mayonnaise, lettuce, string beans, peppers, cauliflower, cabbage, a little broccoli, an occasional slice of tomato, an occasional ounce of cheese, water, plain tea or iced, seltzer or perrier. You might also add other poultry, other meats such as pork and lamb, many kinds of lettuces, spinach, radishes, scallions, mushrooms, herbs and spices, which add amazing flavor in endless variety, and experiment with flavorful oils such as sesame. Here's to your health! In loving support, Bridget M. |

For instance, one large (3" diameter) tomato has only 6 effective grams (8-2 fiber) carbs and only 38 calories. -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |

Does low carb not work for some people?
In article ,
says... I'm male, 6'1 tall and weigh 234 pounds. I have tried low carb on and Hi George, welcome to the group! Drinks: Water, concentrated sugar-free apple juice (diluted with large amounts of water before drinking), Tea (only about 2 cups a day with splenda and skimmed milk) Others have commented on the other stuff, but I wanted to make a special comment about apple juice. "No sugar added" means the manufacturer didn't add any EXTRA sugar -- it does not affect the NATURAL sugar that apples contain. I occasionally have HALF an apple (about 3 oz), which is about 10 carbs. It takes a LOT of apples to make a cup of juice, so the carb count for juice can be quite high, even if diluted. -- Saffire 205/150/125 - 5'1.5" Atkins since 6/14/03 Progress photo: http://photos.yahoo.com/saffire333 |

According to Fitday, 1 cup of of unsweetened apple juice has 28.97 grams of carbs. |
