Default Ronco Diet

Popping around the channels early this morning (or late last night,
depending on your perspective), I saw an infomercial for the Ronco Showtime
Rotisserie, but it had a new twist. Now they are promoting their own
high-protein, low-carb diet to go with the rotisserie. I didn't watch for
details; just saw a bunch of people saying how much weight they've lost,
then I turned the channel.

I kind of hate to see people get their diet advice from Ron Popeil, but on
the other hand, it's always nice to see how the concept of low-carbing is
getting more and more popular, accepted, and main-stream.

No no.. the *real* Popeil classic has GOT to be the fake spray hair!!!!

Teeb (who won't usually admit she's got not one but two pocket fishing rods
out in the camping equipment..)

Yeah, but you gotta love anyone who could invent the "Popeil Pocket
Fisherman" :-)

I watched that infomercial for a few minutes. He talks about how you can
cook great low-carb food on his rotissierie, but then in the steaming trays
on top of the rotissierie, he's cooking stuff like corn and potatoes LOL.
Oopsie!

That's for the other folks that came to dinner. The cook keeps the prime
rib all to himself. ;-)

I noticed that as well when I watched it. He should have had broccoli
and asparagus up there or any other lc veggie.

So how many of you all want one of his rotisseries? I certainly do.
It would come in very handy here.

I've wanted one for a while after reading a lot of glowing reports
about it. I just have to find a sale or that mythical day when I
have that much cash I want to devote to buying it.

In the mall near my home there is a store called IIRC
*Source*. They sell all the 'As seen on TV' items in that store
including the Popeil rotiserrie. I believe it is something like $100
CAD.

I'll have to go check it out. I havent been in there since late July.

I just ordered one from EverythingHome.com. I got the compact one
(does a 10-lb turkey or 2 whole chickens) since it's just me and DH
here; the base price was about $20 cheaper than at Ronco's site, plus
I ordered during a sale and got another 10% off AND free UPS ground
shipping! I can't stand Ron Popeil, but my ex bought one and said it
works great, and the kids always rave about the chicken made in it so
I figured it's probably a decent thing to have. I can't wait to get it
and try it out!

That sounds like a great deal! I want to hear your assessment.
