Is this the way to beat a stall?
Some low carbers have suggested I beat my stall by gaining 3 pounds ( yikes)
and then resuming the Low carb lifestyle all over again. My record - I've lost 51 LB in one year. Cholesterole dropped from 258-181, all blood work good. Anybody heard this one? |

Sounds insane.
Have you tried http://www.FitDay.com ? If you establish how many calories you eat per day, you will know your burn rate. "MEKIESS" wrote in message ... "Cubit" wrote in message . .. Sounds insane. i would assume the idea is to try to trick your metabolism. gaining 3 pounds requires eating more, which increases the metabolism, thereby kickstarting your weight loss. not sure if it works, but i've heard other versions of that idea. -kelly |

Yes, usually by 'carbing up'. Google on leptin and Doug Freyburger. He has done some interesting combing thru the research and added up a few things. revek |

I think that what people mean is to change what you are doing. Sometimes
your body needs to be "shaken up" a little....more exercise, more food, different food. It isn't that bad of an idea and has definitely worked for me. I didn't intentially "gain" a certain number of pounds, but changed the way I ate for a couple of days and then back to low Carb. When you eat higher carb foods you will put back on the water weight, but then, I was able to take it back off quickly and go a little lower. It worked for me. I think one thing I've learned from the wonderful () people here is to not be afraid to experiment and look at this whole dieting/eating thing a little less emotionally and more like a science experiment. It kind of takes the scare tactic out of "gaining 1 lb" or whatever, esp. when you are talking LC and being a female (like me), it's okay to fluctuate a little bit and if you are trying to find out what "makes you tick" it may take a little while of ups and downs and eating different ways. I know that I find myself sometimes eating the same way day in and day out for a couple of weeks. If things settle down to "boredom" and nothing is happening, weightwise, and it seems like it should (in other words, I'm being very controlled, etc.) I would definitely do something different for a couple of days. However, I think most people think they are stalled when they are just eating too much--in other words, they are probably really eating at what their body needs, and thus, don't. Probably it feels like "dieting" because most Americans eat way more than we need. JMO, Becky P. www.family.solidrockpl.org |

Is this the way to beat a stall?
I exercise three days a week at a fitness club - 20 minutes on the cross
trainer and fifteen minutes on the treadmill plus warmup and cooldown. I suppose I can increase the intensity of these workouts, but I sweat plenty already. Incidently I'm 66! |

Is this the way to beat a stall?
Thanks for the good thoughts. I'll try to shake it up a bit. Since i've been
doing this for over a year, I'll need to do some serious thinking about what todo differently. I've lost 50 lbs so far, but maybe I'm in a rut foodwise. Any suggestions? I do eggs, poultry, fish, some berries, and salads, plus ok veggies. |

That's a good idea, and will add some bone mass, too. -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |
