Lola,

This question is very general. Could you tell us a little bit more
about what your goals are in terms of caloric intake and where you think
that you're headed in terms of your way of eating (calorie counting, low
carb, low cal, etc.).

For starters, eat more fruits and vegetables, eat less processed food,
watch for trans fats (bad bad, evil evil). When eating fats, try to go
for the healthy fats (olive oil, nut oils) and not saturated fat.
Beyond that, it's kind of individual.

For me, more protein and more fiber keep me satisified. I also know
that I am a "volume eater" meaning I like to see a lot of "stuff" on my
plate. Fortunately, I love salads so I have salad and a lean protein as
my lunch entree much of the time and I generally have salad and steamed
veggies (often broccoli) with my dinner.

For loss balance isn't necessarily the way to go. Both low carb
and low fat work for various people and neither is balanced as
such or they wouldn't have the word "low" in their names. You
don't want to go to an extreme of driving anything towards zero
(be it fat, carbs, protein, animal foods, plant foods, manufactured
items, whatever) cutting this or that during your loss phase does
work. Just make sure whatever method you chose does have a
maintenance phase.
