I have some stuff to be rethinking here.

And so it begins
I am happy for you that you are making decisions that will possibly save
your life. It is interesting that first time you punch all the food
intake into fitday.com and you say to yourself WOW, I'm just putting the
WORST stuff into my body like this. So then.. you start making little
changes Next thing you know your walking and picking up the speed,
then the next thing you know your on a bike and your doing 1.. and 2..
and then THREE miles and you know then.. You absolutely know you can do
this for life.

don't know if I like the numbers I'm seeing, and it's only 1:30 in the

astronomically high in carbs that's quick and easy? I'm thinking I might be
sticking to fruit, fewer carbs than my usual bagel, but still rather high.

I found that it wasn't that hard to make a small omlette in the morning with 2
eggs and a few veggies or meat in it that tastes really good and all that
protein was really filling in the morning.

I've been eating yogurt (Dannon light and fit has 90 calories per cup), and I
add a little bit of granola for some grains/crunchiness. It's easy for me to
take to work and eat a few hours after I get here.

Hard boiled egg would also be easy to grab and eat on the run, and with a
fruit would be really good.

Maybe some lo-carbers would have ideas too, I don't do lo-carb, I just try to
eat more protein when I can since it's too easy for me to eat just carbs.

Okay, I'm taking all of your advice, sucking it up, and going for a walk,
started yesterday, and am getting ready to lace up again. Not sure when I'm
going to fit weights in yet, but walking is something that I can easily fit
in to my schedule.

Eggs are quick, easy, full of protein, and there are a ton of ways you can
make them.

I eat eggs in one form or another almost every morning. I usually use 1
whole egg with 2 extra whites. Then I scramble them, or fry them for a
sandwich, or make an omelet with some leftover veggies or cheese. If I have
them in a sandwich, I use whole wheat toast and little Miracle Whip Lite.
Hard boiled are great to keep on hand, and I either eat them plain or make
up some quick egg salad to have on toast. Again, I lose one of the yokes
usually.

We eat a lot of boneless chicken breasts here, so I usually cook an extra
one when I make them. I can eat one of those cold from the frig for
breakfast, and it's a nice change. 2% Breakstones Cottage Cheese is another
high protein food that is very good and filling. You can eat a whole cup for
180 calories, throw in some tomatoes, or a container of Whipped Yogurt, and
you're all set. (I don't do sugar free Yogurt because I don't like
nutrasweet)

I've been known to roll up some chicken or turkey lunch meat, the good stuff
like Boars Head, along with a piece of White American Cheese and eat that
for breakfast too.

I also like Peanut Butter Toast, and that's a treat for me once a week
perhaps. Not low-carb and not low calorie, but I like it so I include it in
my eating.

If I ate fruit or say a bagel for breakfast, I'd be starving in an hour.
Eggs carry me until at least Noon or past. I normally eat at 8:00 a.m.
Eating fruit for me is like eating pure sugar, so I save it for a snack
later in the day if I have any at all.

Watch those bagels btw, a large bagel has 3-4 servings of bread and very
little nutrition. A classic "New York" bagel has close to 400 calories.

Where are you at breakfast time? Home, work, school?

If you are at work, and want to just "grab something as you head out
the door"... do you have a microwave at work? If you do, then you
have alot of options for breakfast. What other appliances do you have
available (toaster, tosteroven, fridge?)

Breakfast items that are quick, easy, low cal and low-ish in carbs -
mainly low in sugar and low in GI carbs.

1. Microwaved scrambled eggs. 2 eggs (or 1/2 cup egg beaters) 1oz
cheese, mix, nuke for 1.5 mins (time depends on microwave).

2. Tuna melts - 1 whole wheat english muffin. 1/2 can of tuna, 2
slice of cheese (1 oz). Toast in oven (toaster oven) for a few mins
to melt the cheese. (same effect can be accomplished by toasting the
muffin in a toaster, applying tuna and cheese and nuke for 30sec.

3. Oatmeal mix: 1/4 cup quick oats, water, (hot water or nuke for
1.5 mins) cinnamon and splenda. For a protein boost - add more water
and a scoop of protein powder. For added flavor - add nuts or
honey. Just watch the calorie count as you add in the extras.

4. Good quality protein bars. Read the labels, go for high protein,
low sugar carbs.

Default Breakfast was changing slowly

If I didn't like eggs, I would most likely turn to chicken, turkey, or tuna
for my breakfasts, along with some good real cheese. Tofu is another choice
if you like it. Of course, traditional breakfast meats such as bacon and
sausage would work too. I would check out low-carb recipes (if it were me)
because I feel better and don't crave the junk when I eat moderately low
carb, especially early in the day.

I love oatmeal, but would have to add some protein powder or something
because it just doesn't stay with me long enough.

I know that - but what about us people that don't like eggs?

Any more good breakfast choices without the eggs you guys can recommend?

I'm
currently eating porridge (flaked oats with semi skimmed milk) with a

banana in
it - but that can get a bit boring.

Thanks in advance

Good for you - hope you can work up to one hour of walking. Fiber is
one thing you should add slowly - to avoid problems. Getting 30 + g
of fiber a day can reduce your appetite by up to 20% and reduce blood
chol. A quick, easy, low carb breakfast is one cup of lite yogurt + 3
tablespoons of peanut butter mixed in. 400 calories, fiber, "good"
fats, protein. Even simpler - just add walnuts to a cup of yogurt.
My normal breakfast is 1/2 pound blueberries + 1 cup of lite yogurt +
2 tablespoons peanut butter or almond butter or 1 oz of walnuts.

Another good egg option for on the go: Make some egg salad w/ low-fat
or fat-free mayo, and put in a pita pocket. I've found I can make
several of these at once and just put them in the fridge in baggies
and take one out each morning. The pita bread doesn't get soggy like
real bread would. (Look for whole wheat pita bread; it's a bit better
for you.)
