Default Food & Exercise -- Friday through Sunday

Well, I've been off at the my niece's wedding weekend -- a most
extravagant affair in all regards, including food. I ate too much all
three days. I pretty much decided I was going to have what I wanted
to at these events, but I still feel that I could have exercised more
restraint. I am particularly susceptible to appetizers, I'm afraid
:-). And if the three meals -- rehearsal dinner, wedding dinner, and
next morning brunch -- weren't enough, when we checked into our hotel
we were given a "goodie bag" that contained big chocolate chip
cookies, mixed nuts, trail mix, and pretzels. Ah well ... it was fun,
and I will be abstemious now for a while.

Food:

Friday:

8:30 (home): 30g Hi-Lo cereal, 30g All Bran, 22g whey protein, 1 cup
skim milk
11:15 (driving to Baltimore airport to pick up my mother): 1/2 energy
bar (split with DH)
1:00 (driving to DC after picking up mom -- brought from home):
sandwich w/ 2 slices whole wheat bread, 1/2 can tuna, 1 tbsp f/f mayo
3:00 -- 6:00 (hotel room, from the goodie bag): 2 oz. mixed nuts; 1
large chocolate chip cookie
7:00 -- 10:00 (rehearsal dinner at Sequoia restaurant): 10 oz wine; 6
various passed appetizers (carpaccio of beef on a little breadstick;
Peking ravioli; Thai egg rolls); salad w/ vinaigrette; 3 oz.
pecan-encrusted chicken (only ate half of serving); sauteed green
beans; white chocolate mousse cake
11:30 (hotel room, from the goodie bag): 1 oz. trail mix

Totals: 2334 calories (214 from alcohol), 96g fat (37%), 216g carbs
(37%), 134g protein (23%)

Saturday:

9:30 (hotel cafe): 1/2 serving of eggs benedict, w/ a couple of oz. of
home-fried potatoes (split the dish with my mom)
1:00 (hotel cafe): chicken salad & brie sandwich on whole wheat; 1/2
cup salad w/ vinaigrette
2:00 -- 6:00 (hotel room, from the goodie bag); 1 oz. mixed nuts; 1
large chocolate chip cookie
8:00 -- 1:00 (wedding reception -- cocktails, dinner, after dinner):
18 oz. wine; 10 various passed appetizers (shrimp w/ pesto, smoked
salmon on waffle potato crisp; mini crab cakes; guacamole in tiny
pastry cups; tomato and buffalo mozzarella on toast); salad (greens
and buffalo mozzarella) w/ vinaigrette; 3 oz. beef tenderloin; 3 oz.
broiled salmon; 2 oz. asparagus; 1 oz. rissotto (didn't like it that
much); plate of mini desserts (tiny baked Alaska, little cannoli, 1
mini scoop raspberry sorbet, little heart-shaped ice cream sandwich)
-- didn't eat quite all of these; 1/2 piece wedding cake

Totals: 2882 calories (386 from alcohol), 134g fat (42%), 211g carbs
(29%), 120g protein (17%)

Averages for the week: 1629 calories, 27% fat, 40% carbs, 78% protein
{Not as bad as it might have been, because I ate very lightly for the
first half of the week, but not a weight-losing calorie level for me.}

Sunday:

11:00 -- 3:30 (brunch and afterward at my brother and sister-in-law's
house): 1/2 oz. mixed nuts; 1 sweet & sour meatball; croissant w/ egg
& cheese; 2 mini quiches; 2 pieces of various coffee cakes; 1/2 slice
"breakfast pizza"; 1 crab puff; 1 spinach/cheese square; 3 various
dessert squares (brownie sorts of things)

7:15 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese

Totals: 2034 calories, 91g fat (40%), 236g carbs (35%), 73g protein
(14%)

Exercise:

Friday: None to speak of -- a little schlepping around the airport
with my mom's bags.

Saturday: In the morning, a little shopping with my mom in a
wheelchair. In the evening at the wedding, some good fast dancing (as
much as I could talk DH into, plus a few dances with other guys).

Sunday: After the party, on the way home, stopped by the gym and did
my cardio program week 4, long day: 35 minutes run on treadmill in
repeated pattern (4 minutes at 4.6, 1 minute at 4.7). {Not trying to
make up for all the food -- just doing it today so I don't have to
tomorrow after work, as I have a long work day.}

Sounds like you had a good time though. I am sure your gain will soon
be gone.

It was wonderful -- not so much for the food, of course, as for the
warmth and love of friends and family, and particularly the obvious
love and joy of my niece and her new husband.
