I'm still not convinced that dropping coffee speeds up weight loss.
Maybe because I am afraid to give up my coffee! But I am still losing
at a great rate with 2-3 cups of joe a day.

I do believe that alcohol of any kind slows down weight loss, and do
not indulge anymore.

I don't know if it does or not. I gave up regular coffee years ago
because of my reaction to the caffeine. Now, I'm strictly an unleaded
girl, unless hubby is home. He says he can't stand the stuff and we
have to fix regular for him.

If he's only home for a couple of days, I have no problem. But if
he's home for a week or so, and I drink his coffee, I'm in for a week
or two of withdrawal after he leaves. Don't know about the weighloss
-- I'm usually in too much pain to care until it's over. ;-)

We try to pay more attention to it now that I've put two and two
together and figured out what was going on.

Yeah, I've reached the conclusion that alcohol is bad. It's possible to
lose weight and drink alcohol, but you have to be doing a ton of
exercise. So, unless I do a lot of physical labor and exercise, I don't
imbibe.

Since my illness began in December, I've had no choice but to give up
coffee - even though I LOVE my coffee, always drank several 20 oz mugs per
day (which didn't deter my weight loss, BTW)...but now I have no choice. I
have 2 words for anybody else who might happen to be in my situation: Dandy
Blend.

www.dandyblend.com . A couple of friends who've had issues with coffee but
also "refused" to give it up (like me), now swear by the stuff also.

Alcohol has way more calories than coffee w/o cream and/or sugar.

I've been drinking black coffee, and there are few calories in it.
Alcohol, on the other hand, is a minimum of 70-80 calories just for a shot.

I know what you're getting at, but Dr. Atkins said in his book that the
body will work on digesting the alcohol before anything else and that is
what stalls the weight loss.

I am not 'getting at' anything. I just thought they were carbs. Don't put
words into my mouth please!
