Default Food & Exercise -- 4/19/2007

Went for a run this morning and made a quick trip to the bank this
afternoon. Otherwise just hung out at home during the day. In the
evening we went to the first of four fancy dinners out in a row -- a
wine dinner at our country club.

Food:

* 7:45 (home): instant oatmeal w/ peanut butter & flax seed
* 12:45 (home): poached eggs on whole wheat toast w/ f/f cheese slices
& grated French hard cheese
* 3:30 (home): energy bar
* 6:30 -- 8:30 (country club wine dinner): 1/2 glasses of 5 different
wines; Avocado Mousse (a small amuse bouche); Tempura Soft Shell Crab
with Yuzu Vinaigrette and Jicama/Radish Slaw; Melon Salad with
Proscuitto and Tarragon; Roast Duck Breast with Huckleberries; Smoked
Beef Shortribs with Pommes de Terre; New Ginger Trio Dessert Tasting
(small portions of a sort of lemon ginger custard, a creme brulee, and
a ginger chocolate ice cream sandwich)

Exercise:

* 9:30: 3 mile run

Ah well, that's too bad :-). I'm a protein fan -- though it's more
often fish, poultry, or eggs.

Just the old "eat less, exercise more" thing. I counted calories and
weighed & measured my portions, and kept doing so until just two days
ago -- when I made the decision to drop the counting but otherwise
keep eating as usual. I don't restrict any kind of foods, and I've
always had splurge meals like that last night. My exercise includes a
lot of weighlifting, in addition to running. For the last 16 months
or so I've also been doing yoga regularly -- mainly to work on
flexibility. My current weekly exercise schedule (to which I make
plenty of exceptions due to weather or other activities) is lifting &
yoga 3x/week, running 3x/week, and hip-hop cardio class 1x/week. This
has changed around from time to time over the years. I retired last
August and have pretty much been on this schedule since then. When I
was working I often took long lunchtime walks with a colleage, and now
I rarely walk for exercise. On the other hand, I run more regularly
now, since I can do it outdoors, which I vastly prefer to a treadmill
in the gym.

If you're interested in what I was doing back when I was actively
losing, you could google some of my posts to this group from back in
2003 or so.

(I am, by the way, an about-to-be-59-years-old woman. Since you're
new here...)

Feel guilty admiting this, just bought whole chicken and 5 chicken
legs. I think I've come to the point where I am able to control
myself. Food diary is key

Back of my mind you were a handsome man in 20s. You know the actor who
played Chris in Charmed, see the link. Well, you get the idea .
