Week 76 WI - Linda P
and we are just so good at it, Lee, moving to a black number for the October
meeting Prairie Roots wrote in message ... Yes, yes, yes, I think bicycling has finally gotten under my skin. I'm still flying high from Saturday's ride. When I told people at work today what I did, I couldn't hide the thrill of achievement. I wanted EVERYone to know. Well, there's Lee, being flirtatious with her long hair and lowcut red dress. And there's me, being seductive with helmet hair and two-layers of gel padding in my bike shorts next to my celeste green auto-shift bike. I say, Whatever trips your trigger. I actually rode my bike to work today! After Saturday's ride, the measly 4 miles to the office and back felt like a mere warm-up. The weather this week is ideal bike riding weather: it's only 66F right now at 6:30 p.m. The highs all week are expected to stay in the mid- to high 60s. It feels like September here. My bike was built for commuting. As I expected, the auto-shift function is perfect for bike commuting. Reading the minds of drivers requires enough of my attention; I'm glad not to have to think about shifting. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday the scale said 144. Today, it jumped up to 145.4, leaving me with a .4 loss to report. Since I weigh in at home and not a meeting, I seriously considered cheating and using yesterday's reading as my WI. After all, who'd know other than me? Brutal honesty finally won out and here I am, reporting only a slight loss, hopeful next week's WI will show better results. In the meantime, a loss is a loss. At least I know my scale actually knows how to display 144. G The better news is that I just returned from a 34-mile bike ride. It was classifed as a "mapless, social C" ride, meaning we stopped a couple of times for bathroom breaks, and a longer refreshment break at an A&W Rootbeer stand. I ate my peanut butter & low-sugar jelly sandwiches (thanks to Fred for the suggestion) while others had their rootbeer floats, custard cones, hamburgers & fries. Afterwards, the group went out for a pizza lunch, but I didn't join them. I might do that another time but today I needed to come straight home after the ride. I had tons of fun and kept pace with the lead group until the return leg home when we ran into a rain squall followed by a brisk headwind. That's when the "C" classification was real nice, because the people ahead waited for those of us slower folk. Even so, I didn't fall back into the slowest group; I had my own little group of one right in the middle. While my legs are still wobbly from all the exertion, I'm exhilarated by the adventure of meeting new people and thrilled to have completed the longest bike ride of my life to date. It's the best day of my life! |

Week 76 WI - Linda P
when you call the meeting, tell them write a check right now or fill out the
sign up sheet their choice, Lee, harsh on people who take advantage of caregivers, and ignore the one needing care Laura wrote in message ... Saying they will pay and actually anting up is another story. It sounds like you need to call a family meeting and tell everyone what you plan to do. You can NOT continue to do this all by yourself. If it costs money (and it will) it will be worth every penny of it or you will be burned out yourself. I don't mind taking care of my mother but I have my husband here to cover for me and it is only 2-3 months at a time. I can't imagine doing it alone or for more than 3 months straight without suffering burn out. "Lesanne" wrote in message ... Well. I am going to call a home health agency, today (?) some of you guys ask me about this, so lets see if I can "git er done". They should come do an assessment for us. Maybe. I have not looked into the adult daycare because I am frugal, and thought we should not spend the extra money, that my family "should" help, after all they keep saying they will........ -- Les "Fred" wrote in message ... Could she still be left at an adult daycare center? My dad did that for a while with my mom.
