Default Week 76 WI - Linda P

Thanks Lee. Today my legs are still settling down, but at least I'm
able to think about some of the things I need to do with some
confidence that I'll be able to follow through. I'm tired today, but
energized too. Unlike yesterday, when, except for frequent forays into
the kitchen, I planted myself in a chair and read a mystery novel for
the rest of the day.

I need to remember how much fun I had so I won't be so stubbornly
resistant about going again. Actually, I should take my bike out for a
short ride today on my own to keep up my legs and rear end in shape.

Week 76 WI: 145.4 lbs
Weight change since WI: -.4 lbs
Total weight change to date: -86.6 lbs

Put me among the group of folks complaining about this week's WI.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday the scale said 144. Today, it jumped
up to 145.4, leaving me with a .4 loss to report. Since I weigh in at
home and not a meeting, I seriously considered cheating and using
yesterday's reading as my WI. After all, who'd know other than me?
Brutal honesty finally won out and here I am, reporting only a slight
loss, hopeful next week's WI will show better results. In the
meantime, a loss is a loss. At least I know my scale actually knows
how to display 144. G

The better news is that I just returned from a 34-mile bike ride. It
was classifed as a "mapless, social C" ride, meaning we stopped a
couple of times for bathroom breaks, and a longer refreshment break at
an A&W Rootbeer stand. I ate my peanut butter & low-sugar jelly
sandwiches (thanks to Fred for the suggestion) while others had their
rootbeer floats, custard cones, hamburgers & fries. Afterwards, the
group went out for a pizza lunch, but I didn't join them. I might do
that another time but today I needed to come straight home after the
ride. I had tons of fun and kept pace with the lead group until the
return leg home when we ran into a rain squall followed by a brisk
headwind. That's when the "C" classification was real nice, because
the people ahead waited for those of us slower folk. Even so, I didn't
fall back into the slowest group; I had my own little group of one
right in the middle. While my legs are still wobbly from all the
exertion, I'm exhilarated by the adventure of meeting new people and
thrilled to have completed the longest bike ride of my life to date.

It's the best day of my life!

The side car was a Joke, although a kind of black humor type of joke. I need
respite From her not another way to haul her around with me . I am sure if
I get my tired rear over to Bicycle world and Ask, I will find out all about
the bike club that is here. I just have not done it, because I don't know
who is going to Momma sit for me. I need to call a home health agency and
have someone tell me what is available. Just have not done it. Despite
knowing I better...

According to this Web site, which lists Texas bike clubs, there is a
bike club in your town, though I don't think it has its own Web site.
http://bicycleaustin.info/txclubs.html

Maybe there's a larger city not far from you with a bike club that has
an online schedule?

You're on your own trying to track down a sidecar. If she'd stay in
it, that could be worth trying. I wonder if you could find one to
rent.

Look in the phone book under Elder Care services for additional sources of
help. My sister ended up hiring someone each evening from 7 to 9 pm so that
she could go home and have dinner with her husband and catch up on things.
It cost us a bit of money but it was worth it until we could find full time
help.

I guess I am lucky in that my husband is always here to relieve me when I
need a break from taking care of mom. They are currently sitting at the
breakfast table reading the Sunday paper while I play online. My sister is
not so lucky in that her husband does not lift a finger to help take care of
mom.

I don't know that I Expected you to know what's holding you back as
much as I Assumed you'd know. You strike me as someone who is
self-aware and self-disciplined. You went through all the exercises to
figure out your motivation for weight loss (storyboards, etc.). And
you refer to those devices when things get dicey with your weight
maintenance.

But no, I don't have any expectations. Just concern for your
circumstances.

Okay, I know, I just don't want to get out of my rut. My rut is a rut, but I
know the walls of it really well. I am afraid that I am going to have to do
it though. Yuck.!
