beginning again
Hi there.
I began Atkins on my own just over 2 weeks ago. I worked really hard the first week and lost 3 lbs and then just stopped. The next week, I started adding carbs, lost another lb and that was that, though I was thrilled to notice I had lost 1.5" around my waist and about the same around my hips. Here's the deal, though. After a couple of days on the diet, I had absolutely no cravings for big carbs which I had lived on before, but after the second week they began to come back. Even though I don't crave sugar and pasta, I now eat some toast and cheerios when I get carb hungry, which is more often that it was. So I'm beginning again. Back to induction. I'm glad I found this group, because it will be helpful to talk things out here. Did anyone else have the experience of only losing a few lbs. when you were really sticking to the diet and then just stopping after a couple of days? |

Well, I only lost 5 lbs on induction, and my weight loss has been slow (12 lbs in almost 2 months), but I am not resorting to eating toast and Cheerios. You really have to stick to induction long enough so you are REALLY past the cravings. You say you don't carve some carbs, and then you go on to say you are carb hungry. The whole purpose of induction, to me anyway, is get past this. If the scales are moving slowly on this WOE, remind yourself that they are moving in the right direction, albeit slowly--and that is better than the alternative. Also, think about how long it takes most of us to put on weight. It is sometimes unrealistic to expect to take the pounds off extremely quickly--although some of the people here do. -- Jean B., 12 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts, USA |

You might want to try eating a little less and exercising.

Thanks for the input. I made it through the first day of induction
(the second time around) and so far so good. I will try to remember that the needle's moving in the right direction on the scale and that's what I was hoping for in the first place! I'm also giving myself a reward for making it through the full two weeks. One complete new outfit! Hopefully it will be in a smaller size... "Sandy" wrote in message ...
