Is fruit bad for you?
After following a raw foods diet following the acid/alkaline principles
of people like David Wolfe, Robert Young and Alex Guerrero, I lost 90 pounds within a year. I'm now 15 pounds from my ideal weight. Feels great! My energy level has tripled. I'm never ill. All my animal and plant allergies have disappeared. So has my asthma. The authors above says that the natural sugar in fruit becomes acidic when broken down. They recommend non-sweet fruits like tomatoes, avocados and grape fruit. What's your experiences? Anyone have documentation for or against this theory? Hope to get a great debate out of this. Regards, Tony |

Regards, Tony Sometimes when I see things like this I want to just step back and ask you to consider this. Does this make SENSE to you? You think cherries and apples and watermelon might be bad choices because... why? In my opinion, fruit has two fantastic things going for it: it's filled with phytonutrients that nourish you in a variety of ways. It's also filled with fiber than has many health benefits. A good news/bad news thing is that it's filled with calories. That's good if you want energy or to fuel your body, but bad if you just want to have fun chewing something. My compromise in this situation is to only eat whole fruit: no apple juice, just apples. No pineapple rings, just pineapple chunks. No orange juice, just an orange. As a moderate part of my daily diet (I probably have two servings of different fruits a day) I find that it nourishes me, gives me fiber and leaves me energetic. And why wouldn't it? How can we really have evolved to be thrown into a bad pH by eating an apple? Seriously, it's too silly to believe. Dally |
