Many people suggest 10 x current weight for the level of calories
needed to lose weight. At 180 lbs that would be 1800 for you so you're
well below the suggested daily intake. Often weight loss will stall
for unknown reasons. You might try varying your calorie level from
day-to-day or even include a re-feed day. These techniques work for
some people. Our bodies need fuel to function properly - give it less
than what it needs and your metabolism may slow down causing a weight
loss stall. What types of foods are you including in your 1400
calories per day?

The main thing is to stick to the program. Weight doesn't come off at
a steady pace

You're on this plan for the rest of your life. What's the rush?

Adam.

Weight loss stalls are common in any program. It may be a number of
things. Try eating something different or substituting something. Vary
your diet. make sure you cut out the sugar and try to avoid salt as
much as possible. 1400 cal/day seems pretty small for a guy like you.
probably you need about 2000/day. esp if exercising which you should be
doing along with the dieting. Here's a novel iea, and it does seem to
work: Have a really nice meal, completely off diet, really enjoy
yourself. then go right back to the diet. I know it doesnt seem to make
a lot of sense but it seems to sort of kick start the metaoblism. This
willl sometimes get your body off the plateau you seem to be stuck at.
But mostly remember a diet is not just for a few weeks. It really
doesnt matter what you weigh now, its what you will weigh a year from
now and beyond that really counts.
