Default Time magazine...lose that spare tire

That is the special report in the June 6th issue which I've just started
to read. There are articles on choosing the right workout, can yoube
fat and fit, the risks of overexercise and closing America's fitness
gap.

January through March I went to a yoga class once a week. It took me a
while but I was finally becoming comfortable and enjoying it. Then I
had medical appointments, two weeks' vacation and other obstacles so I
quit going. My main form of exercise is walking. I currently walk 45
minutes every morning and 75 minutes when I have the extra time. I've
always been afraid of gyms and feel I'm extremely uncoordinated. I
really want to add some hand weights and other exercises to improve my
fitness.

Audrey,

I think you said you were in the Fresno area, not sure if In Shape Clubs are
that far south, but I attend the one in Stockton. See if you can find a
club that has a pool, the one I attend has a year round indoor pool. They
offer water aerobics classes twice a day 5 days a week and also on Saturday
mornings. It is lots of fun, and for the person that is not coordinated at
all. Personally I think of it as playing in the water for an hour.

It's almost warm enough for me to use our own pool so perhaps this
summer I can get out there and swim.

Audrey,

There are some great instructional videos out there for water workouts. You
could try one of those. Take a look around this site to see what they
offer.

exercise you can deal with forever is an excellent idea, I know I will never
like it but I can do the weight machines without becoming completely bored,
also the price was right, Lee

Thanks for sharing the site. When I typed my last response I remembered
I used to save magazine articles that showed water workouts but they are
probably well hidden in piles of clutter.
