Default Acid Indigestion

Hi,

My wife and I are into our second week of induction and so far almost
everything is positive. We are loosing weight and are starting to feel a
bit better. One question I have is this. Before we started Atkins, I had
very bad acid indigestion almost every night. I haven't had a single
episode since starting Atkins. My wife on the other hand, didn't have much
acid indigestion, some but not much, and now she is bothered with it daily.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Dale

Think first about your medications, are you taking same stuff? taking them
all at the same time you used to take them? same kind and amount of food?
You probably aren't snacking after supper or snacking on the same stuff?
She has probably changed something about her food during the day?

Anyway, don't mess around with this much, she should probably take the
once a day indigestion stuff for a couple of weeks and then try going
without it for a while.

Among my relatives it seems that the first 15-20 lbs of weight loss wipes
out the acid indigestion. If your wife continues to have problems see a
doctor.

Is she taking any kind of pain reliever? If so, that could be the culprit. Tylenol caused that to happen to me when I started
low-carb. Before low-carb never had a problem with Tylenol. Don't know why it happened, but it quit when I stopped taking the
stuff. Other medicines might also cause it.

The best & inexpensive thing I found for dealing with acid indigestion is baking soda (the directions are on the box).

If it continues to occur, a doctor's visit might be good.

Thank you all for your input. I think we found the culprit ... calcium
tabs. She didn't take her vitamins yesterday and didn't have any heart
burn. So she took her vitamins one at a time an hour or so apart and she
got heart burn a short time after taking a calcium tab. We'll keep working
on it, but I think we are on to something.

Thank you again.

Is your calcium from oyster shells? That will sure give me heart burn MAX.
Switch to calcium carbonate.
