Default I'm polish, how to find points?

Hi, I was wondering how to count points for many polish foods I love.
I buy fresh kielbasa (several different sorts). How do I find the
points for that? Can I just use a general amount of points for each
sort? I buy them fresh from a butcher store. They are not packed or
wrapped. They don't give you any info on the calories, etc.

On the other hand, I hate eating frozen/pre-made food. I always buy
fresh meats, vegetables, grains, and make them by myself. Is the list
given in the beginning of the booklet as good as the one for the ready
made food sold by several companies? It's so hard when your eating
habits are so different then the American style. Almost none of the
food I make is in the book.

Thanks for any info

Hi Evie
I cannot find kielbasa in my WW materials or at
http://www.dwlz.com/index.html Dottie's Weight Loss Zone. Hopefully
someone else here can help you out. Perhaps you can find a similar
sausage listed at Dottie's site.

Good luck with the hunt! You'll probably have to weigh and point each
separate ingredient as you cook a dish, but if you note the total points
for that amount and the points per portion, you can soon build up a
data-base of your own foods. Things like fresh meat and raw fresh
vegetables are pointed, so it shouldn't be too hard to work them out.
The lists for these things is as good as it can be, so just trust that
they have worked it out properly. So long as you weigh everything
accurately, you should be OK. Sausages are a bit more awkward, as
butchers who make their own will rarely hand out the recipe for you to
work out the points! I know my local butcher's sausages have less fat
in than commercial sausages, but they are slightly bigger, so I still
count the points the same.

I tried http://www.nutritiondata.com/ and found 2oz kielbasa has 127
calories, 10g fat and 0 fiber for 3 US points.

You might ask your butcher if he can make a low fat version for you.

Very true. Not many sausages or Kielbalsa are WW or diet friendly. I can see
it being very easy to go through an entire day's worth of points in one
normal meal.
