Curves
My cousin used to work at Curves. They gave her a 'sales' manual to
show her how to convince women to join. One example I remember... Ask the question "What does your boyfriend / husband think of you being overweight?" If they answer "He doesn't care", the manual says to respond with "Well, don't you want him to?" Everytime I see one of their easy, breezy, self-esteemy commercials, I think of that and it makes me want to gag. At the same time, I think that being active is important... I just hate the marketing ploys and sales tactics of most of these fitness places. Andrea WW Member since January 11th, 2007 196 / 184 / 135 |

and time efficient, which if you have children is a definite plus... and you
are teacher to be active, and while you are paying for their lessons, you aren't additionally paying for a sitter, Lee, thinking this is a major NSV for you, the kids and your pocket book teachrmama wrote in message ... wrote in message oups.com... I joined because our swimming pool was shutting down for the winter and I needed to replace swimming with another activity. My girls go to karate 3 times a week, and Curves is just a few doors down from their dojo. When I went in to sign up, I didn't get any sort of a hard sell--certainly nothing like you are talking about. But each Curves has its own owner, and there are probably a number who do things that way. yuck I enjoy my workouts at Curves. They are just as intense as I choose to make them. Some days I put a lot more into them than on other days. Sometimes I go around the circuit 3 or 4 times rather than just 2. It's not my only form of exercise--I walk a lot (fast), use my recumbent exercise bike, etc. And am eagerly awaiting the reopening of the pool. But Curves is a fine workout, and it's a lot better than just sitting and waiting for my girls to get done with karate. At the same time, I think that being active is important...
