On the other hand, I noticed no effect.

I have heard that the chemicals used in diet pop caused health
problems with lab rats, but of course other reports disagree
with that. But no conclusive evidence on humans.

I used to consume none, but
about 5-6 months ago I started drinking Diet Pepsi and became an
addict :-); I now drink 3-5 24 oz. bottles a day.

Whooah and I thought I was bad :-) I tend to drink diet pop
during lunch and dinner; water is too bland with meals IMHO.
After drinking diet cherry pepsi, regular diet pepsi is bland.

Oh yeah, the diet decaf coke... brown water with bubbles...

Like your sig, you into astronomy?

Thanx, not really. Its a song by Rush from Hemispheres, about a
travel through Cygnus to reach Apollos and Dionysus. The song
describing the journey, Cygnus X-1, is on another album

Funny, never heard of them. Cygnus X-1 was the first black hole to be
revealed, which is why I asked...

I've noticed that drinking caffeinated drinks has a negative effect on

Yeah coworker mentioned that diet pop actually adds weight...but I
dunno. It
seems to work for me. Another coworker read an article saying fructose
causes diabetes. Nowadays nothing safe for you..sheesh

I only allow myself one cup of coffee or one can of
diet soda per day.

Rush is one of the greatest bands! I thought I recognized it.

As far as soda, all things in moderation. Try to drink more water and less
sodas. I drink diet sodas ocassionally, but I prefer sparkling mineral water
and have recently discovered iced green tea (yummm!) which I love.

Even adding lemon slices to cold water tastes great!

OH AND BY THE WAY here is a link to the study you may have heard about on
the news last night like I did. Sugared soda promotes type 2 diabetes. No
**** Sherlock. Drink your water, milk, and juice.

http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/weight.html

I didn't read the above article, but I think the problem is high
fructose corn syrup, not sugar.

No really, it is actually $hi+! It's obvious that the media have
reported about this study without reading or understanding it
(typical).

The study doesn't actually come to that conclusion based on the ACTUAL
data within the study itself. In fact, JoAnn Manson (a co-author of
this study) was also the co-author of a previous study an April of
2003 (just last year) titled "A Prospective Study of Sugar Intake and
Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Women" in the publication "Diabetes Care"
which found (or came to the conclusion) "sugar intake is not
associated with the risk of type 2 diabetes".

The study mentioned at nutritionsource basically only maintains
(solidly) that weight is the factor. That's obvious. The study
implies that even diet soft-drinks contribute to diabetes, which means
that it's the water since diet soft-drinks do not even have sugar (do
they!).

The people (in the study) who drank more soft-drinks gained LESS
weight than those who drank less than one can per week (that's IN the
study). Thus the soft-drinks aren't contributing to weight. The
sugar in the soft-drinks are not (by previous study and by
diet-soft-drink assertion) contributing to increased risk. That makes
this entire study a clearing of the indictment for soft-drinks.

Therefore, where does the soft-drink - diabetes link come in, from
this study?
