At any rate, I fail to see how I look or how PG looks is relevant
to Ig's comment that he feels that he is attractive.

It's highly relevant.
In order to make disparaging remarks about someone's physical
attractiveness one should have some "talking room". It's akin to a
person calling another person "stupid". In order to call someone else
"stupid" one must be smart by comparison.
Ig's features are regular and proportional, his skin is good, he's got
plenty of hair and he's in good shape. There's no reason he shouldn't
consider himself attractive.

Carmen

Ok, I understand... you are attracted to arrogant, all-knowing men. That is
ok, if you want to live your life that way. Personally, anyone that posts
in a NG that they are attractive is begging to be beyotch slapped.....

But, should he be hurling shots at people he claims to have kf'd?
That's pretty cowardly to be able to dish it out and not take it. It's
fine if he wants to fight back but he should completely ignore comments
by those he claims to have kf'd unless he decides to take them out of
his kf and have the balls to confront them directly.

Attractive is in the eye of the beholder. There are no rules. It's
quite possible that physically a person can possess the typical
"attractive" qualities but their personality is such a turn off that
even if they looked like Mel Gibson they would be unattractive to those
who know enough about them. Then again that would require a bit more
than superficial thought.

Ig and I have had a few run-ins. That doesn't have anything to do
with what he *looks* like.
In the culture he came from his style of discourse is the norm.
Americans and Canadians are raised differently by and large, so it
gets interpreted as arrogant.

That's a rather myopic POV. The right to self defense comes into play
- and then only *after* he's been attacked.
He'd be foolish to allow someone to attack him and ignore it if it
comes to his attention despite his killfile. Under those
circumstances the person who knows he's killfiled them and attacks him
regardless is attempting a cowardly sneak attack.

Odd you should choose Mel Gibson. He's a very good example.
Physically he's attractive but otherwise he's a waste of air as far as
I'm concerned. The fact that I find him to be a worthless excuse for
a human being does not negate the fact that he can lay claim to being
"attractive". For me to deny he's attractive just because I find him
vile would be dishonest. *That* would be an example of superficial
thought.

I disagree, but then again when I had him KF'd he attacked me
regularly. Eventually I did get sick of ignoring the attacks - all of
which I was aware of because of replies by others or because a few
friends would forward things to me since they thought it was
unfair/uncalled for. I took him out to respond. Now I don't bother
with the KF and amazingly the nasty comments have decreased.

I don't find Mel Gibson particularly attractive and never did, but
again we are entitled to disagree. It doesn't make you any more
correct than me. I'm not sure how judging the attractiveness of
someone based on more than ones appearance would make me superficial,
but whatever works for you.

Just because a person isn't fat doesn't make them attractive. I know
that from experience as I was definitely less attractive at my thinnest
than I was at times when I was heavier, just not from a Hollywood
perspective. I'm certainly not going to argue one way or the other
anymore because my point is completely lost on you. You might live
your life in a lab or a study setting, but I like the real world with
real people.

Regarding killfiles, I have been around usenet for 10 years. Usually,
when killfiling is loudly announced etc, that's drama queening and
such announcements are usually lies. I killfile posters when I find
reading their posts not worth my while, and try to not make a big
drama about it. Hence, I do not announce who I killfile etc. There is
a country song "if your phone does not ring, you'll know it's me".

I have been around usenet for 12 years, BFD. You like to bring that
out when it works for you, but then when your inappropriate behavior is
pointed out to you, you claim all kinds of ignorance - how convenient.
When it comes to drama queening I certainly am not going to argue with
you since you are the professional in that department and put most
people around here to shame.

All I said was if you were going to make comments about other people,
even in self defense, it's chicken**** to keep them killfiled during
that exchange. I always took you out of my KF to confront you directly
rather than play the childish games you like to trot out. I'm not
afraid to tell you exactly what I think of you or hide behind usenet
tricks.
