I Have a Computer Again :-)
Well, I'm finally back to normal here. A couple of weeks ago I
spilled a few drops of wine into my keyboard and killed mine. Unfortunately, the damage was severe -- took out the system board. It would have cost as much to repair it as to replace it, so we bought a new one (IBM Thinkpad) and kept the old one for parts. And DH took out the old hard disk and RAM and put them in the new one, so it looks and acts exactly the same (though it has the little fingerprint recognition feature, which I didn't particularly want). Anyway, it's nice! And I've started back in again today logging my food, now that I can do my spreadsheets. I didn't gain any weight in the interim -- actually went down a couple of pounds (though a couple of wine events yesterday may have made up for that :-) ). Anyway, I'll be back to doing my old Food & Exercise posts! (No news on the Mom front, by the way. She's still there physically, not so much mentally.) Because we replaced the new RAM with the old one, my Thinkpad still runs Windows. At this point I just wanted it to work the way it used to and not deal with any changes. Maybe sometime later... Meanwhile, my Outlook calendar got messed up by the time change. All my appointments between this past Sunday and April 1 were shifted an hour later in the day! Chris |

They'll send her home soon just to shut her up. It's been sad seeing so many seniors in conditions similar to your mother's. I really feel for you. I just talked with the social worker at the nursing home. Not much change in Mom's condition -- maybe a little more gradual decline. She now doesn't make much attempt to feed herself, so they do that. She's on total life-care -- bedpans and such (but no artificial measures). She talks very little, and sleeps most of the time. At least she doesn't seem to be particularly discontented -- is too out of it to really know what's going on, and doesn't seem to be in pain (they give her meds for that). Chris |
