help! too much protein?
I've been doing Atkins for close to a year, and starting just recently
I get foamy urine and a toxified feeling whenever I eat a lot of protein. I'm a little worried about my kidneys, to be honest, yet my doctor just said my blood and urine tests came out normal. (And my cholesterol and triglyceride levels are way better than they used to be.) It doesn't have to be a huge amount of protein-- probably something like 80 grams will set it off. For the record, I weigh 165 lbs, so 60 grams is my required amount. There's nothing in the Atkins literature about this - it all basically says protein is a free food, unless I missed something. Comments? Anybody else experiencing this? Got a solution? Thanks, Dave |

Dave,
Sixty grams is, if anything, a low protein intake for a low carber of your size. And my own experience has been that too high protein (which for me at 140 lbs would be over 120 grams) causes only an increase in ammonia in the urine, which doesn't foam. It sounds like you've got something else going on. -- Jenny - Low Carbing for 4 years. At goal for weight. Type 2 diabetes, hba1c 5.2. Cut the carbs to respond to my email address! If it's something else, I wish I knew what! The effects do seem to be
commensurate with the amount of protein I eat. "Jenny" wrote in message ... Dave, Sixty grams is, if anything, a low protein intake for a low carber of your size. I'm eating lots of fresh ginger and keeping my protein to just above
my minimum requirement. It seems to be working great. (I'm making up the calorie balance with healthy fats.) So, if anyone else here is protein sensitive and is feeling funky, try fresh ginger... it'll clean you out in no time! (jamie) wrote in message ...
