broccoli & cauliflower, boiled okra, steamed corn on the cob,

I don't know the calories since you are adding dressing and margarine.
That is where the major calories would be though. In fact, it would be
easy to eat 500 calories in dressing and margarine. Almonds are also
high calorie but probably good food. You would just have to eat a few
of them though or they too would add up quickly. Try the Promise Fat
free margarine if you haven't already. It has 5 cal per tablespoonful
and tastes OK. Remember, for this to work, you might have to
substitute or just limit high cal stuff. I just avoid certain foods
altogether....nuts, all dairy except fat free milk, dressings, meat.
You can do it with what you are presently eating but it might leave
you feeling like the quantity of food is inadequate. If so, you might
substitute some of the fat for carbs or protein. Remember carbs and
protein have only 4 cal per gram vs. 9cal per gram for fat. This means
you get to eat over twice as much (by weight) for the same calories
when you substitute carbs or protein for fat. There are a lot of
opinions about what satisfies a persons hunger. Many say it is fat,
others protein, others carbs. Water before meals is a good calorie-
free thing to try also. I drink a lot of diet pop with my meal....6 or
7 cups. Water would be better of course..no sodium or artificial
sweetner in that. Of course, we both know there is a lot more to
overeating than just feeling full. If it were that simple, so many
people would not have weight problems. You might just try other things
if something doesn't work, is all I'm saying. There are lots of
"tricks" that seem to help one person but not another. dkw

Yeah, I see what you're saying about the margarine and dressing. I am
bad about condiments, but I am getting better. I like lower fat
dressing anyway and I keep the yogurt margarine mixture at home so it
has much fewer calories.

I didn't know that about the protein and carbs. Good to know.

Thanks for the tips.
