Default recipe software w/nutritional info?

I was wondering if someone could recommend some good software that will
calculate the (accurate!) nutritional value of recipes, etc. Of course
recipe management and printing (letter size) is a must as well :-) It
looks like Accuchef, Living Cookbook, MasterCook, Now You're Cooking,
and Cook'n might be options. What are your thoughts?

That is one thing I like about Diet Power, you can create recipes and it
will give you the complete nutritional breakdown per serving. I've entered
recipes from cookbooks and magazines and then can make substitutions at
will.

Last night I downloaded some of the programs that I mentioned and so far
Living Cookbook (http://www.livingcookbook.com) is in the lead for ease
of use. It can also export to HTML and Word and you can e-mail recipes.
Mostly, though, I want to be able to print recipes with nutritional
info on letter sized paper. I want it to calculate the nutritional info
accurately and I would like for it to have a spellchecker.

I also looked at Big Oven (http://www.bigoven.com) -- I thought that
linking the nutritional info was very clunky and also it didn't have all
of the ingredients very intelligently in there. I also found Now You're
Cooking (http://www.ffts.com/) to be clunky. I still need to look at
the others.

Just a note -- we are improving the nutrition link-up process
considerably in the next preview build of BigOven, due out within 5-6
days. BigOven includes access to over 100,000 recipes, which can be
imported into the program with a single click, grocery list and meal
planning functionality, drag-and-drop ease of use, an ability to post
ratings, emailing recipes, and more. We have a free trial of the
product on www.bigoven.com.

Thanks

Great! I'll give BigOven another look in a week or two then.

I am concerned that the program be both easy to use and accurate in it's
calculations. I'm not all that interested in the recipes the program
already has in it as I want to use it to organize my exisiting recipes,
not to aquire new ones.

The programs that I tried had wild fluctuations in the nutritional info
and this was a really easy recipe that I used for a test. :-( As for
the ingredients not being there in an intelligent way -- crushed red
pepper and penne were both missing from some and some didn't have garlic
cloves but wanted me to know how many grams each clove weighed.
Overall, it was an interesting experiment.

JMK -- Just a note; we've posted a new build of the BigOven recipe
software to http://www.bigoven.com, and it dramatically eases the
linking of nutritional content. Check it out when you get a chance.

* Get nutritional info
* Create a single grouped shopping list
* Create a simple meal calendar
* Send recipes easily via email
.... and more

http://www.bigoven.com
Cooking made easier.
