Ok, I called the local place and asked if their sauce had any sugar,
they said no.

The Wings are not breaded.

What else do I need to ask them to see if they are OK to order??

It should not be a problem, so long as they are not breaded, and they
don't use some goofy sweet sauce (I think IHOP breads them and uses a
sweet sauce). They are supposed to be unbreaded, and buffalo wing sauce
is supposed to be just a mixture of butter (or margerine) and hot sauce.

Many places seem to dust them with flour or cornstarch to make them
look browner. If you fry naked wings at home, you can see that they
are more yellow. It probably wouldn't add up to more than about 4g for
a dozen wings, though, if they've been dusted.

BTW, a Fry Daddy runs about $15 at WalMart, and fries a dozen frozen
wing pieces in about 15 minutes.

Ask if they're located in Buffalo/Rochester NY. If not, PASS...

Personally, I would be
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=suspicioussuspicious if
anyone told me their BBQ sauce didn't have any sugar in it. BBQ sauces
are nortorious for having a high sugar content. (Before I started
Atkins, I used to make my own BBQ sauce, it called for 4 cups of sugar
in a recipe that made about 6 cups of BBQ sauce).

Around here (in Texas, where I live), a lot of the chicken wing places
(WingStop, Wings Express, etc.) have other flavors besides Buffalo
wings. I tend to stay away from any that have any sort of sauce on
them. I like the Garlic Parmesan and the Lemon Pepper flavor. The
place near me also has a Chipotle flavor which I really like (and
satisfies my spicy food craving).

While BBQ sauce will have lots of sugar (and if not sugar, then honey!), hot
wing buffalo sauces usually don't have any carbs. The standard recipe for
buffalo sauce (around here, anyway) is Texas Pete and Butter tossed with the
wings after they're grilled or deep fried. Avoid the breading and it's a
great low carb food.

I've always loved hot sauce, and am grateful that I can still pump up the
heat and stay on the diet.

What's "Texas Pete"? My favorite hot sauce is Tabasco, simply because it
provides heat without too much flavor.

Ah, Texas Pete, a Food of the Gods....it's actually made in North Carolina
instead of Texas, and it's not as hot as Tabasco but has more of a tomato
flavoring to it. It's an ideal base for wing sauce. I buy it by the gallon
for my own use.

I love Tabasco as well. Have you tried the new Garlic Tabasco? It seems to
be just now hitting the stores and it's really good. Same Tabasco heat, but
a very interesting flavor.

What? Tabasco has very little heat for the amount of flavor.

You want the best heat/flavor ratio, buy some Pure Cap*, but be
careful. It comes in a child proof medicine bottle with
skull&crossbones. Inside that is a small bottle with an eyedropper
(do NOT put this stuff in your eyes!). It is 100-200 times as potent
as Tabasco, which I could literally drink straight from the bottle.

* http://www.hotsauceworld.com/purecap.html (This is the best price I
could find.)

One or two drops and a stick of butter will seriously heat up a bunch
of wings.
