I have a wedding date!
Wohoo!!!
Congrats! Martha "George" wrote in message ... OK, y'all wanted to know, so I'm posting this from George's computer since mine is not up and running yet, nor do I have a phone line or ISP yet. But I will marry George on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at 4:30 PM! That's one big thing, getting that date set after my move. Otherwise, working hard at moving in, shaping up the house, etc... I do like it here in North Dakota so far. Except for the lack of quality fresh vegetables and fruits! Well, sometimes you find them on sale, but it's rare. Frozen are OK, but not quite my cup of tea. I am walking some, so is George. Though the weather is getting chillier. It's hard on my ankles, but I'm trying to do a mile every couple days. Our neighborhood is quite nice to walk in! I've lost some pounds since my move... most in one big whoosh, and about a pound a week since. I hit 240 today! Yeah! Cooking again is good! Gotta go, have work to do, but thought I'd check in to post this. More later when my computer is back up and running. That's what I'm working on, getting the room it goes in painted, so I can move my desk in. The cat is adjusting, but has security issues. He does not like seeing his new daddy go off to work. Oddly, though he is used to being outdoors a lot, he doesn't much want to go outdoors here. I've been taking him out some anyway, on his leash and harness. He has taken to occupying George's chair when George leaves. It's weird getting used to George doing these various shifts. When we first got here, he was on a day shift... but is now on graveyard. My body is confused too, even though I am not following his schedule. Cynthia 262/240/200 first goal |

Even here in northern WI, the fruits & veggies selection is pretty poor, especially in the winter - and darn expensive! Most people up here do their own gardens, provided you can put up the 8 ft. fence needed to keep the deer out. There are farmer's markets that I've traveled over an hour to get to in order to get decent produce. A friend of mine stocks up on fresh produce and cans it so she can enjoy all winter. She's going to teach me how next summer. Jenn 300/154/140 |

It's funny how quickly the cat has glommed onto George... he woke me up at 7:12 AM wanting breakfast, but then after he ate a bit, he jumped back into bed and sat there looking out our window (faces onto the street we park on) in hopes of seeing his daddy come home. I got up, they were both in here, George on the computer and Gray sleeping in the chair next to him. When George leaves for work, Gray often occupies his chair. When I became involved with DH, one of my cats totally fell in love with him and it was mutual. He began taking the cat home with him on the days he wasn't at my place. That worked out well because when I moved in with him, the monster was acclimated and comfortable. The other cat was a bit put off but perked up after being able to take out a few mice. Jenn |

Jenn Gray liked George from the first, so I wasn't worried that they'd have issues getting along. Gray loves company, and he worries when either of his parents are out, so it's nice that most of the time, one or the other of us will be with him. We hear about it when we both go out. G Cynthia |

We had frozen veg last night and it was just not the same. I guess we can get used to it, or pay more, one way or the other. I may try to grow some fresh greens on our porch. It's glassed in, but not insulated. It remains to be seen whether I can or not, but it's worth a try since it does have a southern exposure. Learning to can could be interesting... but in general, I like canned veggies even less than frozen ones. Seafood is also expensive and hard to find. Cynthia |

Seafood is also expensive and hard to find. Cynthia Home canning is much different than commercial. I've had veggies and fruits that were put up by my friend who is going to teach me to can. Seafood around here pretty much sucks because it's nearly impossible to get fresh or wild except from Lake Michigan which is so full of mercury I wouldn't eat it anyway. Luckily I live in an area with thousands of lakes and lots of walleye and panfish - I just need to learn how to catch the buggers. Jenn |
