Yeah! Online again
Isabel not only kept me off line for 4 days, the storm cancelled the kids
school on Thursday and Friday. Spending 4 days home with the kids with no cable/internet (two of them with no power at all and no water) was soooooo much fun. Somehow, I managed to lose 2 pounds. However, it is not a diet program I recommend. We did not have it too badly in our area...at least our neighbor hood did not have any flooding to speak of. I really feel for those who are still without services. Elise. |

I'm not sure I would lose 2 pounds if I were cooped up with kids for 4 days but I do know I would probably lose my mind g. Beverly |

I'm in Hampton Roads, so we're in an area of devastation, although my family personally weathered the storm well. (lots of trees down, but none on the house-- a personal victory!) However, it has NOT been good for dieting and/or exercise. I'm at home alone with both the girls, so even though the weather's been nice since the storm, I haven't been able to keep up my usual commitment of 30 minutes a day. (unless you count copious amounts of yardwork) Plus, it's just been a big ol' beerfest over here since last Thursday. :-( Not beating myself up, though. I'm trying to drink a glass of (bottled) water between every beer, and I'll get back on track once the Y is open and the kiddos are back in school. (They're predicting Wednesday or Thursday) My plan is to weigh myself (something I do rarely) the day the Y opens, and up my exercise by a minute or two a day for the next few weeks until some weight loss starts showing up. And now that I have power, I can do some video or teevee yoga. kellye |

With the "big blackout of 2003" I lost about 4lbs. My normal mindless
munching was curbed greatly by the fact that I was so worried about everything it gave me indigestion. It was a struggle just to eat regular meals. What usually ended up happening was that I'd eat half of something and then feel sick. Besides that the heat also helped to squash the appetite. "Cox SMTP east" wrote in message ... I went to work out on Saturday, since the gym was closed Friday. The locker room was mobbed with women who'd come in just to have a hot shower, since so many people still had power out. Chris |

Okay, I'm confused, isn't Hampton Roads a waterway? We just got back from a vacation doing Civil War tourist stuff. We drove through Isabel to Gettysburg PA Friday. No problem. Saturday was lovely and we drove to Petersburg VA. Big problem. Everything was severely storm damaged - wires down in roads, no place to get gas or food... some tourist destination! A Civil War era cemetery there, Blandford Church, had HUGE trees uprooted with graves gaping wide open and priceless memorials toppled. It was so very, very sad! (The kids were impressed with the devastation.) So, Petersburg having fallen, we went on to Richmond. The place we wanted to go there happened to be adjacent to the big medical center and consequently had power (though not water.) We spent a few hours touring the Museum of the Confederacy and then sensibly high-tailed it out of the devastated South back to D.C. to visit Mr. Lincoln in his chair. D.C. was great on Sunday, no one was around. We parked right on Lafayette Park to go see the White House. It was pretty much just us and a whole bunch of Marines. However, it has NOT been good for dieting and/or exercise. But I missed my workouts Saturday and today and am feeling like I gained a ton of "road" weight. Sadly, no beer has been forthcoming. Is this something you water-bound people chug? Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum or something? So, where IS Hampton Roads? Wendy, who knows about the Monitor and Merrimack |
