Anyone remembers their old New Year's resolutions?

|| Soon it will be time to think about this passing year and our new || year resolutions, if any. I avoid making them, but I do like to set goals for the next year. || || I dug up my old post posted on Dec 31, 2003, and will comment on my || new year's resolutions. || ||| Lose 10-15 lbs of fat ||| Gain 5 lbs of muscle || || My total weight loss for this year was 5 lbs. I have somewhat more || muscle, but not much more. So, a WAG would be 7 lbs of fat lost, 2 || lbs of muscle gained. Well, you didn't regain, so that's a success! || ||| Be able to reach the floor with my chest sitting with spread legs ||| (hamstring lexibility) || || complete failure. Do you really need such flexibility? || ||| Stick to my WOE || || I changed my diet to low carb in the middle of the year, which I || cannot regard as failure. From the big picture point of view, I stuck || to dieting, weight maintenance etc. You stuck to your WOE until you decided to go a different way. Now you're sticking to your new WOE. Success. || ||| Walk 5x/week || || I rarely walk anymore, but I run quite often. Been very busy last || week, repairing a military surplus generator, but normally I do run || about 5x per week. Then you exceeded this one if you think in terms of goals rather than keeping to what you said you'd do. || ||| Strength training at least 5x/week. ||| Avoid sports related injury. || || Still do some weight training 5x per week, but not as much as I would || like. This has been definitely the longest period of time when I || maintained strength training. I had a few enthusiastic starts in the || past, all ending within months. Well, this one is sort of vague, imo. Training 5x/week sort of implies a certain sort of training in order to keep it up. I personally think it is better to keep training period than to force yourself to stick to a certain protocol. || || Does anyone else recall their New Year resolutions for 2004? || I don't call it a resolution, but I said I'd get a century done and I did that last weekend. I was afraid it would elude me. My goal for 2005, as far as riding is concerned, is to increase my average speed over distance. That implies I do some other things. |
