Default Taking a break

Hi all,

I have been doing the best I can and have not gained anything yet and will
keep trying not to gain. I guess I am having a tough time right now. My
mum died last June and just as I was getting over that, my dog was just
diagnosed with cancer and is receiving radiation therapy. On top of all
this, I am unemployed. I am pretty down right now and am having a little
trouble. Kind of an overload. I will keep trying to run, bike and swim and
try to maintain.

Thanks for all the support here. I will hope to be back in a few weeks or
something. My time is limited because I have to drive to Cleveland from
Pittsburgh (2+ hour drive) M-F for 3 1/2 weeks. This is a real financial
problem and so on. Gas alone costs me $25+ a day, let alone the oncology
and vet bills.

My dog Raleigh is doing ok so far with radiation. Not himself, but doing
ok. The oncologist says he has 10-14 months to live with treatment, but I
think he will go longer. He is all I have, so I am down. He has
chondrosarcoma of the skull.

Sorry to be a downer. I'll be back when I feel a little better.
Take care and good work to all those who are losing. Low carb has sure done
a lot for me.

Curt

Paying for chemo on a dog is irrational. When you don't even have a job,
it's retarded.

Curt,
My heart goes out to you. My Yorkshire terrier means the world to me and
I don't want to even think about anything happening to her. Our pets bring
so much to our lives and only ask for love in return. My Yorkie's name is
Winkie and no matter what she is always there for me. She always knows when
I'm sad or ill and won't leave my side. I know it's hard right now but if
Raleigh doesn't make it, just know that you did all you could. You gave him
a loving home and years of friendship and he'll always be with you.

I lost my mom to cancer, it will be five years in June. It gets easier, it
really does. I have my bad days, her birthday is the 12th of April. And
Mother's Day is really hard for me. But time goes by and I've put a lot of
the guilt and anger behind me and I'm at peace with her passing now. I know
in my heart that she's with me and that she wants me to live a full and
happy life. One reason I started on this WOE was because I heard my mom on
the phone telling someone how fat I had gotten. It cut me to the core and
even then it took me years to put my grief, guilt and anger away so that I
could focus on losing the weight. Now that I have, I feel that my mom is
proud that I've finally taken charge of my weight issues.

As for a job, one will come along, just hang in there. Take a break from
the group but don't make all your weight loss efforts be in vain. You
deserve to be happy and eventhough you've hit a low spot in life, just
remember that there are others out there that care about you. )

Email me if you want a shoulder, I'm always around. Take care, my friend
and I'll put you and Raleigh in my prayers.

Kelly

I'm very sorry to read this. I'm a "fur mommy" and would do exactly
what you are if it meant a better quality of life for the dog. Don't
let some folks' replies get to you....it's easy to be dimissive when you
don't have the capacity for real affection. I do agree that keeping up
with your own health will be a great boost in hard times. Please let us
know how you and Raliegh are in the days to come.

But it isn't "irrational" when you come on here attacking people because of
their weight?

Would anyone like some cream with their BLACK coffee pot?
