DIE SPAMMER DIE!!!

That was unkind. The site doesn't make any money from this service, but I
believe in the online community and convinced the powers that be to open the
site to everyone - no charge. People are finding real life buddies in their
neighborhoods - and lots more are supporting each other in the message
board.

In the meantime, I'm working on the tools that will one day pay the bills -
and others that subscribers to these newsgroups would find useful.

It was easy to type those 15 characters - it's a lot harder to do something
that really helps people.

I'm not going to question your motivation, but the fact is that your post
does constitute spam in so much as you cross posted it to multiple groups,
whic is a really rude and annoying habit no matter how on topic you feel the
subject to be.

She also posted it to the Austin.General newsgroup where it is not at all
"on topic". I don't know about everybody else but I'd rather chew broken
glass than ever visit her site.

There are just a few groups that, by their charter, would be read by people
interested in local weight loss/activity partners. I can't imagine why
anyone would be annoyed - the participants in WLB's message board are happy
to be finding each other.

Our hosting company has strict rules about spam, but my periodic notices
don't violate 'em. Heck, I'm attaching my real name and email address - I'm
proud to have expanded WLB's original purpose, but what would be the point
if nobody knew the service was there? It's not like we're charging fees for
advertising - the 'real' part of the business hasn't even opened yet.

And thank you for noticing the local announcements. Since the purpose is to
help people find each other, I added local announcement groups to increase
the probability that people who respond will succeed.

That said, I personally apologize to anyone who finds my activities
distateful, but I ask you to please recognize that there's a legitimate need
WLB's search feature can fill, so I will continue.

Fredda Weinberg thus spake to all and sundry:

It's that slippery slope thing. Let one advertiser do it because it's
'relevant' and before long the group is swamped because *anything* can
be made relevant with enough twisty logic. And it will be, eventually.
First it's weight loss and products for same, then it's health and
products for same, then it's quality of life-- and *anything* can be
quality of life. I'm sorry if you can't wrap your mind around the fact
that just because you wouldn't doesn't mean it won't happen.

but what would be the point if nobody knew the service was there?
It's not like we're charging fees for advertising - the 'real' part

Try joining a group and participating as a member. Keep the link to
your business in your sig. USENET participants are not here to be
advertised at, regardless of whether its a free service or not (thank
you ever so much Canter and Siegel). And we do pay. Higher bandwidth,
clogged servers, no profit to the ISP, means eventual shutdown of those
self same servers when they do break down (and they break a lot), unless
we cough up MORE money to keep them running. Or go to a pay server.
Either way we consumers lose. When are you marketers going to pay your
fair share of these costs?

That said, I personally apologize to anyone who finds my activities
distateful, but I ask you to please recognize that there's a
legitimate need WLB's search feature can fill, so I will continue.

Ok. So basically you're saying the rules don't apply to you. Fine.
Continue being a jerk. I will continue reporting you to your ISP.

Translation: I think my ads are on topic so even though you guys tell
me point-blank that you don't want me thrusting them into the midst of
your conversation, I'm going to do it anyway.

That's rude, incredibly rude.

Not to mention that ****ing off your potential customers is not
generally considered the goal of marketing - so it's stupid too.

So you're rude and stupid. And since your post is spam, *you* are a
spammer.

In summary, you are a rude, stupid spammer. One of the lowest
possible life forms. I've met nicer viruses than you.

to. For the exact same reason, someone starts their interaction with
you by disrespecting your rights, they've made it clear they don't
deserve "nice". Kick 'em in the gonads! Have *fun* with it.
