Doesn't that just say it all? I got my "permanant vacation" slip on
Friday - after finally completing a long, hellish tax project. And although
I'm not wallowing in self-pity, I did have a piece of cheesecake after
dinner that night. And again Saturday, and Sunday, and....well at least the
cheesecake is gone now! I ususally lose weight during stress - so for me
the hardest thing to do right now is keep eating. I've sent out over 50
resumes just since Friday, and fortunately, my unenjoyment check will be
enough for me to scrape by on while I'm searching for a new job. I really
hate this... But there is a silver lining! My house is SPOTLESS.

I'm really sorry to hear about the job loss. I received one of those 8
years ago and it turned out for the best. I found a better job a couple of
weeks later and I'm still at it and love it. Hopefully you'll have the
same experience.

Glad to hear the cheesecake is gone. If you need another house to work off
the stress mine is availableg

Oh dear--how awful! Good luck on your job search, take care of
yourself and the little one, and stay out of the cheesecake now
that you've had your one slice.

I am very sorry to hear about the lay-off. I am sure that you'll be able to
find another job w/ out a problem, as you are a very "determined" person. I
would avoid dessert though, as you don't want your interview clothes getting
tight. Best wishes...

Hello det,

I'm sorry to hear about the job loss. Hopefully things will turn around
soon for you. I'm in the same boat, looking for work that is. Luckily I
have a friend who's trying to get me on where he works. After being out of
work for two and a half years I'm ready to get back.

Take care,

Paul

2 1/2 years??? Ooh, that doesn't sound very encouraging... What do you do
for a living? I'm a bookkeeper...

Bummer about the job, good that you aren't wallowing. I'm wallowing in pms
pity right now with back cramps so bad that I can't run and can barely walk.
Enough about me and back to you...

It's great that you've already got resumes out there - were you expecting
this?

My cheesecake substitute is cottage cheese, in the blender for a quick pulse
or two, then add some splenda and some berries (or some unsweetened cocoa
powder).

Take advantage of being able to exercise whenever the mood strikes instead
of having to plan it around your schedule. Hope something comes up for you
soon.

Cramps suck! And I have those too........ I wasn't expecting the layoff,
but I knew what to do Friday when I got home. I didn't even have internet
at home because I had access to it all day at work. I got it turned back
on, fine tuned the resume, and went to the website of our local newspaper.
Nowdays, almost every listing has an email address to reply to and you can
get alot of resumes out in a short period of time. I'm lucky - I had just
consolidated my debt, and I can live on unemployment without going bankrupt.

That is a good thing--DH got layed off last week (he's a union
carpenter) and while his layoffs are usually very short term--two
to three weeks--it's hard to make that switch from a full
paycheck to half (or third) pay.

Good luck on your job hunt.

Amy
