The last time I took any, they gave me a weird feeling after a couple
of days...so I quit takin' them.

I have been taking a multi-vitamin/mineral tablet every day for nearly
2 years. I've found it makes no noticeable difference either way.
However I have been told I look very healthy more than once, so who
knows. While I'm dietting I'll keep on taking them.

It may be that you disagree with the substrate of you choice of
tablet? Are you allergic to anything? Bottles normally show what the
substrate is so get a small bottle to start with and see how it goes.
You may have to try more than one brand to get one that is acceptable.

Actually, I'd like some vitamin advice too.
Kinda what to take and when; as I know that taking 'em all together can be a
bad idea for absorption, but I don't know any details.

At the mo' I take a daily (multi-vitamin + minerals) plus the following
Evening Primrose Oil 500mg per day.
Magnesium.250mg
Calcium & Vit D 800mg + 5mg
Citrus Bioflavonoids 1000mg.

help and advice anyone?

The multi-vitamin I take is to make sure I get enough of everything
due to the "restricted diet" people generally eat when they are trying
to lose weight. I don't think I need it but it's better to be safe
than sorry.

Apparently extra calcium helps weight loss, and vitamin D helps the
take up of calcium. Of course you should egt it through milk and
cheese, but I hate milk and avoid cheese, so tablets it is.

If you have a varied diet you shouldn't need any of these, but I
suppose I do have my favourites so it's best to indulge.

I don't know what the other stuff is for, so won't comment on them.

Vitamin K is rarely found in tablets, and it's one vitamin that is
lacking in many diets. Make sure you eat your greens - brocolli
especially

The other thing I take is glucosamine. This is supposed to help with
joint damage. I do get aching joints sometimes and weight lifting
isn't going to make that any better. I think it helps somewhat.

I take a multivitamin that has an extra ingredient (some kind of green tea
extract, I think) that's supposed to help with weight loss. The efficet may
be entirely psychological, but I'm in the "it doesn't hurt and may help so
why not?" school on this one.

I do Fitday so I can see my nutrient intake. I generally do pretty well,
but still take the vitamin. I read an article some time back which said
that some nutritional experts want "a daily vitamin tablet" added to the US
Food Pyramid.

I'm religious about my glucosomine chondroitin. I've been diagnosed with
osteoarthritis in my knees, and I think the GC really helps.

I've been wondering if other find it helps in the real world. I've
read of the studies that say it's good, but never come across anyone
who actually takes it.

Thanks

My mother, who is loathe to taking medication or vitamins or pain relievers,
has been using glucosamine chondroitin for several years. She did a small bit
of research, enough to conclude that it wouldn't hurt to try it, and now
doesn't dare miss a day.

I give to my dog, who has hip dysplasia and a degenerative spine. While the
spine causes her problems on occasion, she almost never has trouble standing up
from lying down now that I've found the right dosage and frequency.

A good friend who also has osteoarthritis takes it, based on her doctor's
recommendation. She told me that she stopped taking it for a while and
started having more pain.

She recommended it to me and I did some web research and started taking it
myself.
