Default Jeans don't fit? Quick solution

Hi to all,
I read here a lot to pick up hints and receipes, but don't have too much
to say that would be helpful or different... so I lurk!

This idea might be helpful to the women in the group. My jeans are too
loose (ya' poor me...really I am not complaining) but I am not ready to
fit into the smaller sizes in my closet and not wanting to buy something
for "inbetween". I realized it was time to DO something when I went to
take off the jeans and could pull them off without unzipping them.

I can sew, have a sewing machine etc.... but just sewing up the sides on
something with pockets, didn't seem like an ideal solution. Plus these
jeans are in pretty good condition and might be useable to someone else
when I have to part with them. So, I decided to add elastic to the
waist band in the back.

I made a vertical cut about 2 inches from the side seam on each side of
the back, inner waist band. Then took some fairly heavy duty elastic 1"
wide and threaded it thru the waist band from one side to the other.
(pin the end of the elastic with a large safety pin to help you push the
elastic thru the waist band). I then stitched the elastic at one end,
pulled on the elastic to shorten it and sewed it down at the other side.

This makes these pants more wearable for me, especially since I don't
tuck in my shirt tails...no one can see the "elastic back" and my pants
stay up, with a minimum of sewing. My goal here was not fashion but
function.

My husband and I have been LCing since July 1st and he has lost about
35lbs and I have lost 25lbs. We both got blood work done last week and
both of us are doing better than last year for sure. (also our doctors
are happy we are losing and supportive of LC) I definitely reccomend
doing measurements when you first start as that really can make a
difference to your mental attitude when you don't lose on the scale.

I am cheering you all on! Go US!

25 down and 100 to go!

Hey, what a great idea! I don't sew and don't own a sewing machine,
but this sounds like something even I can do by hand. I'll go shop for
some elastic band this weekend.

Thanks!
