How many carbs are burned doing certain things?
I know I am going to get a lot of depends answers but, here we go
again for my burning question about what activities burn carbs. Or if a person at rest for the day doing nothing but breathing, how many carbs would that person burn? I mean on a treadmill they have counters on how many calories are burned, even fat calories. Why can't it be done for carbs? Reason I ask is that I was done losing weight on Atkins and I gained a few pounds back and was trying to lose them by just dieting with no excercise. I did not notice any loss until after I got back on the treadmill and doing Atkins. And the keto sticks confirmed my fat burning from little or none with no exercise to full blown burning after getting back on the tread mill. I would like a happy medium is all if anything to help me find my ACE diet. Thanks in advance. |

eat less calories that your body requires to maintain current weight.
Forget carbs, doesn't matter. Vile wrote: :: I know I am going to get a lot of depends answers but, here we go :: again for my burning question about what activities burn carbs. It isn't so much the fact that you're burning carbs, it is more that you're using up your glycogen stores (which is pretty similar, but not really the same). I don't know if there is a way to measure carbs burned or not. Lyle McDonald wrote a book about doing what you're talking about, basically carbing up and then burning it off. It is pretty in-depth (from my understanding). The book seems to work for those who stick to the whole things. Sometimes, you can find him over on misc.fitness.weights and maybe, if you posted your question there, he'll see it. Of course, I don't have any clue if it works with the treadmill, but I know it does with weights. If youwant to buy his book, you can get it at http://www.theketogenicdiet.com/ . I hope that helped some. ~M'isa |

I've also found that less carbs than you think you need is the correct level of carbs. Having said that, I do find that some amount of carbs are beneficial to repair the painful feeling I have in my legs a day after a long bike ride. -- Bob M in CT Remove 'x.' to reply |

How many carbs are burned doing certain things?
The reason you will get lots of depends answer is because it does depend.
You burn energy and whether it comes from carbs or fats "depends" on what you have been eating and when. And as far as how many calories of energy (calorie is a measurement) a resting body burns that also "depends". It takes more energy to sustain a large resting body than a small resting body, that's why it becomes more difficult to lose the closer you get to your goal. You can convert calories burned into grams of carbs burned by dividing by 4 which is the approximate number of calories per gram of carb. "Vile" wrote in message m...
