My fiancee was having leg cramps on occasion in his sleep. At the
time, he was also eating at least a banana a day... though he no
longer is doing that, since bananas are rather carby and he is
diabetic.

He has been taking a calcium, magnesium and zinc supplement for some
months and since taking that on a regular basis, no more leg cramps.
His brand is Spring Valley.

Might be worth a try.

i eat low carb, and have found that increasing my potassium

susan,
i take 2-3 99mg tablets of potassium daily.
i also take calcium/mag/zinc and some folks believe that helps with the
leg cramps also.

are you taking any meds that could possibly depleting you?

I get leg cramps when I don't have enough water. How much water you are
drinking?

If your not used to exercise try cutting back your mileage - see if
that helps. Also try hamstring stretches after exercise.

I've been walking as much as 4 miles a day for 3 months Brad and cycling
for 6 weeks now and only just this week increased my mileage by a total
of 3 miles and lowered my carb intake. Because I have been eating too
many carbs due to quitting smoking. I am getting my potassium from leafy
greens and a banana a day. There's gotta be another reason for the
cramps. I may need the magnesium mentioned in one of the above posts to
my OP. I still have not found an encapsulated multivitamin that I want.
I do not want pressed tablets.
