Hi,
Would drinking a bottle of red wine a day for 3 weeks give one something akin to a 'beer belly' or can you not get a 'wine belly' ? Mant Thanks, VJ |

Red wine
A glass of red wine - about 6 ounces or 170 ml has about 150 calories.
A typical bottle of 750 ml has about 600-660 calories in it. So, that's a reasonable number of extra calories and for many people would result in 1 lb plus per week weight gain, unless they were eating less to compensate. Ounce for ounce, wine has more calories than beer, but people tend to drink more beer than wine in terms of volume per sitting (i.e. I believe 12 ounces of beer have about 120 calories). So yeah, drinking wine can make you fat. Booze in general is a lot of relatively empty calories. M |
