Weigh-in this week
Thanks for the link! I have it bookmarked, will do some reading later when I have
a bit more time (between loads of laundry). I wonder if maybe what I saw as being Irish and Steel cut ... were packages that had been turned around on the shelf? Then they have some quickie types etc but I think there is really only the one and depends on which side of the mcCAN you look at (G) http://www.mccanns.ie/pages/products.html They also have FAQ and prep ideas including the one I did on my own - making a larger batch and reheating daily, as needed. Also the overnight method and a microwave method (I had tried on my own and ran into the bubbling trouble they mention!) My sister used to make a similar recipe, but left the nuts out. It's been many years since she has made them ... for me anyway. g And I love anything with toffee, and of course .. chocolate! Probably a good thing I wasn't near you during the holidays - had a hard enough time with the temptations just in my home, without adding the goodies at yours. g Luckily it was not my house and she supports my program but does make cookies. When she offered, she limited my selections and numbers since most were going to a potluck. You were fortunate then, at least you were limited in the quantities and didn't have the treats constantly beckoning you. G Well, I had my dried fruit and was trying to eat that. But, again, too much of a good thing??? I did a good job winding down, for some goofy reason this week *feels* like it has been out of control again. Again, nothing major but I seem to be constantly hungry and nibbling. Not good, not good - but am moving forward and taking each day as it comes. I got back to Journaling yesterday. Will see if I can continue it. Ok - have a trader joes oatmeal question for you ... I went today, looked at the McCann's oatmeal - and there are 3 cans to choose from. Steel Cut oats, Fine cut oats, and Irish Oats. Now which one do I buy? LOL! I put them all back and decided to come ask you first. g I did let daughter talk me into some coconut icecream though - is pre-portioned into individual little coconut shells (think this is why she wanted it) and 150some calories ... not too bad. For me, I chose the orange sorbet which is packed in little orange rinds - 87 calories (I think). Boy I love this place, something new and exciting always jumps out at me. Oh, great, now you've added to my confusion but Maybe I'm lucky by choice limitations - STEEL CUT are the ones I've got downstairs (thanks for the exercise incentive (G)) I wonder what the Irish Oats are? Ok, Steel Cut it is - I hate to have you go to all that exertion for nothing. I'll give them a try next week, think I'm stocked to the gills right now with Trader Joe stuff. G I'll take a look and see what the Irish Oats are - if the can even states a difference. All the cans do look identical though, so have to be pretty careful when making that selection. And just to get you going ... if you ever decide you want a switch from the pre-portioned skinny cow treats ... my daughter just had to have some coconut icecream from them (scooped into little coconut shells, pretty cute). I tried the Orange Givrees this evening (orange sorbet), worked out to 1.78 points (if I remember correctly) and were darned good! Again, a pre-measured item so making those scooping mistakes is taken care of for us. G I did have a taste of daughters coconut, was also very good but a bit higher in points - 3.70. Okay. I will think about it. I also think that I need a free-standing freezer. Mine is stuffed tight and just now trying to get the bread in there I dumped the OLD english muffins which I don't use anyway. |
