Will adding fibre reduce carb. absorption?
Hello There,
I'm wondering if I take a protein powder, that has 3 grams of carb, and blend the protein with a teaspoon of benefibre or some other fibre (metamucil) will the fibre neutrilize the carbs? My understanding that in some diets like PP, you deduct the fibre from the original carbs to get the "net carbs", this way by adding fibre will I be able to reduce carbs? Thanx Liam |

Fiber isn't a negative when deducted - 3 grams without fiber. Total is 3, deduction is 0, count is 3. 3 grams without fiber. Add 3 grams of fiber. Total is 6, deduction is 3, count is 3. There is no magic bullet like that. |

Can always sprinkle ground flax meal on to food as well for loaded fiber and Omega3 fats as well! :-) Even on your fried eggs in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!! |

"Susan" wrote in Sometimes, it slows them, but that can be a very bad thing, like the well documented "pizza effect." It's a late, very long lasting glucose spike. What is it about Pizza that causes this? Is it the carb loaded sauce or the Crust ingredients? |

A logical cousin of the one-handed clap, no doubt. What is it about Pizza that causes this? The gulping-down-an-entire-14-incher-by-yourself part. |

Thanx Liam Here's how it works. You add the fiber to the total carb count to begin with. Then you deduct it if you're a believer. You can't add 3 fibers and then subtract 4. -- "Never bet on the end of the world because it's only going to happen once and how are you going to collect?" JK www.MyConeyIslandMemories.com |
