Keeping carbs below 50 grams
On Tuesday, March 5, 2013 10:47:15 PM UTC-5, Horace F. wrote:
Hi All, Has anyone kept their daily carb intake below 50 grams? I just started going low-carb (3 months ago) and I'm diabetic. Late last February, my doctor took me off insulin and 1 other medz. Right now, I'm more focused on the health benefits of low-carb rather than losing weight. It will come as one of the benefits of staying healthy. I've totally (well... almost) given up on rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, etc. This all started when I visited the health page of this website: http://www.grc.com/health/lowcarb.htm. It includes a podcast, book recommendations. I'm still reading books about this but I jumped right into it and reaped the benefits in no time. I'm looking forward to the day when I say "bye-bye" to my diabetes medz. Horace F. I've gone many months below 50g. Anyone doing Atkins would be at that level for at least two months. Good to hear it's working for you. |

At the beginning I thought it should be quite difficult to quit noodles, pasta or rice and I may feel hungry easily. After a while, I found out that those are unnecessary worries and I feel good and healthy both psychologically and physically. But I have to say that it is still quite difficult for me to quit carbs in the morning (I need some energy for the day). -------------------- Everyday is a new beginning. Take a big breath, and START AGAIN. |

Just by eliminating bread and milk from your diet, you can take your carbs down quite a bit.
Focus on junk carbs. Don't be afraid to eat a fruit a day like a banana. I have strawberries and blueberries mixed with protein and vitamins and fish oil every day for my "breakfast". -Coach Dave newbodychoice.net Quote:
