Default New Offering from Coca Cola

I must be in a test marketing area for the Coca Cola co. Several weeks
ago, it was the Blue Label Diet Coke (splenda) and this morning when I
looked in the refrigerator at the convenience store on campus I saw -
Coca-Cola Zero.

No carb, no calorie, the ingredients list looked similar to Diet Coke. I
was joking about it - saying how is this not oh, I dunno, Diet Coke? But,
I bought a bottle to try it out. It does, in fact taste much more like
regular Coke to me. Which is a point against it for me, as I think regular
Coke tastes too sweet. It also has a more noticable aftertaste in my
opinion (although that probably depends on which sweeteners work for you).

I didn't like it and it wouldn't cause me to switch, but if you really
like the taste of regular Coke, but don't need the sugar, you might want
to try it out.

I was wondering what the marketing rationale was - are they going for
people who don't think of themselves as "diet" drinkers but could use
fewer calories/carbs or just coke drinkers who don't like the taste of DC?

I personally prefer it to DC and I definitely don't want calories from a
drink.

Looks like Splenda has swung some deals with Coca-Cola and Pepsico.

More options for low-carbers I guess.

The Coke Zero isn't sweetened w/ Splenda. It uses apartame and acesulfame.

Well, there's their market I guess - not just you, of course. But others
who share your preferences.

I like it. I don't care for diet coke, I like the taste of regular coke
better. I don't like pepsi. C2 was good to me, but this is a better option
since it has no calories. I am no longer doing low carb, for reasons, but it
helps to be able to limit the sugar somewhere. I still use splenda liquid in
my tea and coffee.

I just tried Coke Zero too. To me it tastes more like regular Coke,
than std Diet Coke, but not as sweet or flavorful as regular Coke. I
like Diet Coke with Splenda the best of the Coke products. It's
amazing how many of these products Coke is making. Looks like they are
just throwing everything on the shelf and seeing what sticks.
Personally, for a cola, I like Diet Rite the best. To me, that tastes
more like real Coke.

I may have to give it a try. Except I drink Diet Rite now as I don't
want the caffeine either.

I didn't like it, either.
