Vice taxes are in place because people ARE willing to pay for their addictions. As a non-smoker (quit in 1995) I don't care a lick about the price of a pack of smokes. Tax away, but put that money towards health-care funding. I'd be surprised if that is where the money actually goes now...I mean *actually* goes. Really. Of course, when everyone quits smoking and driving SUV's, they'll have to start taxing broccoli, organic carrots, and soy nuts.
