My Butt hurts.
When I loose weight it hurts to sit down on hard surfaces. waiting for the bus
makes me ache. anyone else have this problem? I just hope my bike seat does not get worse on my rear end. Right now I can only ride 5 days a week as my rear needs some reset. but I get atleast 8 miles a day in. -- Knight-Toolworks & Custom Planes Custom made wooden planes at reasonable prices See http://www.knight-toolworks.com For prices and ordering instructions. |

Don't know about general seating, but make sure you have really good bike shorts (mine cost $100 and I'm a tightwad), they make a world of difference. And a good bike seat with the cut-out for your delicates... det |

Hey, glad to see you brushed off the shavings and stepped out of the shop. No ass to speak of back there, huh Steve? Me neither, to my wife's joking amusement. There are special bike seats to help combat the discomfort. Sitting on bleachers and metal chairs just about does me in - I'd rather stand. Perhaps one of those bleacher pads (12" sq.) would help with the bus trips. I've tried building up my behind through exercies, but I guess it's just not in my jeans. |

I bought some new bike saddles from Terry Bicycles and have been really pleased with the difference they make on longer rides. www.terrybicycles.com They cater to women but do carry some men's saddles. Hard surfaces have always been a problem for me since I don't carry my extra weight on the backside....all in the tummy area. I've found crossing the legs and just leaning from side to side helps alleviate the problem. I attend many sporting events for my grandkids and always carry a sweater or small blanket to pad those hard benches. Don't complain It's such a small price to pay for being leaner. When got down to about 240 (am currently 260ish) I noticed that if I sat on
the edge of the tub I could feel my tailbone hitting it and had to adjust in order for it not to be painful. Unfortunately there's not much you can do about it. If you were a lady I'd suggest those panties with the butt pads in em but that's hardly appropriate for a man. "Steve Knight" wrote in message ... And look for bike shorts with padded inserts. Also, they make foam seats you can easily carry with you and will fit in a briefcase or gym back that you can use to sit on while waiting for the bus. |

I did buy a Gell seat and it helps. but I have a ways to go to tuff up. -- Knight-Toolworks & Custom Planes Custom made wooden planes at reasonable prices See http://www.knight-toolworks.com For prices and ordering instructions. |

I need cycling under ware (G) I know for longer rides I will need them. but right now I need rain gear more. -- Knight-Toolworks & Custom Planes Custom made wooden planes at reasonable prices See http://www.knight-toolworks.com For prices and ordering instructions. |

I would definiately recommend bike shorts and a nice saddle. Both are worth the investment. Check out performancebike.com. I prefer the "elite" ones but they carry lots of brands. I use a Terry Liberator saddle. I'm not sure how their men's saddles run -- perhaps the Terry Fly would be a starting point? I think that Terry saddles are made by Sella Italia, fwiw. |
