Week 41 report - down 1.3 lb - 67.3 lb total
Another week...
This week I noticed that some days it seemed easy to keep within a pretty low calorie intake, while other days it seemed I had to be really careful not to go over (which I didn't, but I did need to be very conscious of calorie limits and exert noticeable will-power). I think the difference between "easy" days and "harder" days has to do with how busy I am at work - the busier the easier it is to stay on my diet without even thinking about it. My average daily calories came to 1678 calories/day, which is higher than most weeks lately, but still under my "basic allotment" of 1700 calories/day. Since I lost 1.3 lb this week this means my CPP (calories per pound per day needed to maintain weight) seems to be about 11.3, which is on the good side for me - I'd been average 10.5 or so. My "rolling 4 week average" has dropped to 1.2 lb/week. This is a slight tick-up from last week's rolling average though. Given the CPP and rolliing averages I guess things are on track, though weekly weight loss is quite small. I'm really not in any rush at this point - though I do have my eyes set on breaking into the 80s now that it seems to be getting so close. I figure at this rate I should get into the 80s by my birthday (June 3) - the one year anniversary of starting my diet. My latest weight loss graph is at http://lerner.net/diet/weight20060317.jpg Here are the stats: * Week 41 / Day 287 * This week's loss: 0.6 kg = 1.3 lb * Weight (kg): 125.0 - 94.4 (minus 30.6 kg) * Weight (lb): 275.0 - 207.7 (minus 67.3 lb) * BMI: 41.3 - 31.2 * Percent body mass lost: 24.5% (getting close to one-quarter gone!) * Percent complete to goal: 67% doug |

On 3/17/06 9:48 AM, in article , "Eddie-Type2" wrote: bloody awesome Doug! you da man!.......good stuff! QUESTION: so how can I calculate what my daily caloric intake should be? Well, what I do is: 1. Take my goal weight in lb. 2. Multiply by 10.5. It's the "10.5" that is different for different people though, depending on your average metabolism and level of average daily activity. doug |

Congratulations on another successful week. I find myself hunting for something to eat on those afternoons I'm not busy at work, too. Lately I've used those slow afternoons to clear out my office or just take a short walk around the campus. I'm one of those boredom eaters Beverly |

I do continue to get the munchies in the 3-5 pm time period. So I usually have a couple of hundred calories of something then... doug |

Is 153lbs really your goal weight? Without a substantial amount of upper body muscle that weight will probably look more frail than healthy for a male of average height, IMO. -- Cheese http://cheesensweets.com/contact/cheese |

Interesting! doug I like it because it accounts for metabolic changes with age. Here's the womens version for your tool bag. Women: BMR = 655 + (4.35 x pounds) + (4.7 x inches) - (4.7 x age) Remember that both the men's and women's formulas are for a body at rest. Get out of bed and allowed calories start increasing. -- Cheese http://cheesensweets.com/contact/cheese |
