"Not a lot of food" follow-up
OK,
After four days, I am nowhere near the allotted points yet, as I'm unwilling to start feeling deprived because honestly, it kicks up all sorts of unhealthy and wacky emotional stuff for me, and I end up eating more, not less. This has got to be fun, and feel good, or forget it, I'm better off not playing with dieting fire at all -- too dangerous, I don't want to get bigger! I'm really testing to see if this is something I can use to GENTLY and SLOWLY retrain myself, to be nicer to myself. I honestly have no clue about portion sizes, I can see that. People asked me to post my day's "menus", ha ha ha, I'm still just haphazardly grazing through what was already here (like 2 large Papa John's pizzas laying around from Friday night -- not a common event) and doing what I'd normally do, *but* keeping an eye on portions. As the days have gone by, I've been playing a little with the portions, paring them down to whatever "one" WW serving size is, and seeing when I feel hungry again. With that, here's a telling trend -- these are "Flex Points Spent" per day, from day one through today (if I just eat what I plan to eat): 26.5 (pizza) 21 (out with friends, ordered the duck) 16.5 12 I am about to go make my dinner, again, keeping the portions down, but eating what's here/what I want to eat. I'm VERY hungry, it's almost alarming, it's like I don't know what it feels like, ha ha ha. Hopefully dinner will be satisfying (steak, potatoes, corn) and I won't need a snack. Gotta go to the store and get some bananas and apples. :-) Slowly getting the point... training yourself slowly is what many do on WW. I tend toward the
perfection thing so I had to go whole hog, so to speak or it wouldn't work for me. In the end you have to decide what you want and what you are willing to do to get it. I understand using the food in the house but you are cheating yourself by not eating more zero point items. If it is not the right time for you to lose weight that is fine and if you realize that, then it is to your credit. What I can tell you is that I have lost close to eighty pounds and the only time I have ever been hungry are when I waited to long to eat. And don't think that your menus are different because you don't have a planned one. I rarely plan beyond I think I want" insert main course here" The next time I eat. I "plan" as I am eating so that I am not on a search for food while hungry, good luck, Lee Amanda wrote in message ... "Not a lot of food" follow-up
When I started on WW in mid-July, I felt hungry all the time! I ate carrots
(not over the daily limit) until I felt like a rabbit. It took a while to figure out what I could eat that would fill me up, leave me satisfied, and leave points for chocolate and beer - 2 things I am unwilling to give up. Through constant journaling, I learned how to juggle things. One of my favorite lunches this summer (when fresh produce was tasty and abundant) was half a whole wheat pita, with 1/4 c hummus (doesn't sound like much, but it is enough), stuffed with lettuce, tomato, onion, sprouts. That really filled me up in the middle of the day! Now, 3 1/2 months and 23 pounds later, I easily have points to play with each day. Sometimes, I look at my journal and say "oh, I must eat another 2 points" to make the minimum of 20. This makes my DH laugh, and I love it! Yes, it was tricky at first. Yes, I did feel hungry many days. Yes, it got easier. Yes, I'm glad I'm doing it!!! Hang in there, Amanda! It's not a short trip, but it's the journey of a lifetime! :-) -- Wendy http://griffinsflight.com/Quilting/quilt1.htm de-fang email address to reply "Amanda" wrote in message ... "Not a lot of food" follow-up
Take one day at a time. Start writing down what as well as how large a
portion you are eating. Normal WW portions are 3-4 oz of meat, chicken or fish. More, depending on how many points you have per day. If you are really serious about starting WW you will get rid of all of the junk in your house and start over with healthy food. No sense in trying to start WW with snacks and food like pizza in the house. This is no way to start WW, imho. Go to some of the WW meetings and read their materials and sample menus to give you an idea of how much food your target points give you. Then get to the store and buy lots of low point foods to get you through the day. Good luck. "Amanda" wrote in message ...
