Default Bodyfat percentage as measured by bathroom scale

Does anyone have a feeling for how accurate the bodyfat percentage
reading in an average bathroom scale will be?

I realize that scales will vary from one to the next, but in general,
are they known to work reasonably well, or are they generally
unreliable?
