Pointy end up.

It will *eventually* germinate upside down if you put it flat side
up, but you can look inside where it splits and see how the roots and
shoots cross over themselves to reorient. I did that the first time
I tried to grow one.

It has split open and I can see the root and stem forming. All you
guys are wrong.

The pointed end goes down, not up.

But it really matters little as both the root and stem make a quick
U-Turn and head in the right direction regardless of how you plant it.

I've got one I started growing from an avocado pit last fall. It's quite
tall and healthy looking. My co-workers keep asking when I'll be serving the
guacamole. :-)

I've got one I started growing from an avocado pit last fall. It's quite
