Question
Too few calories might make you lose weight.
Better be careful with that. -- You take stupid to a new level. -- MFW "Merry Darr" wrote in message ... I keep reading that too few calories ingested can cause the body to go into starvation mode. What would be the appropriate amount of calories for a person who wants to lose weight, is in the induction phase of ATkins and has a BMR of 1330? TIA Merry |

Question
Atkins specifically writes in his book (NADR) not to worry at all about
calories. It's somewhere in the Induction chapter. So that's what I did; focused on getting 20 grams of carbs per day, from veggies, meat, eggs, cheese, butter, and mayo. Jen |

Jen He does write later though if you are not losing, that it may be because of too few calories. I have been fooling around with low carbing for the last three weeks but I have not lost one pound. Today I went back to square one to see what was wrong. I discovered that I messed up and was not measuring correctly. I was eating too many carbs and too few calories. I am starting over today. Today is day 1 in induction for me. What I was doing before was not wasted though, I was learning what to do and I have found all kinds of lovely meals for when I get to maintenance :-) Merry |

A healthy eating habit involving the right carbs and calories, as well as an exercise routine, is a sure ticket to weight management. Again, JC knows this. They just get WAY too much sun out in West Texas! **shipping JC some of the excess South Texas rain** |

You really have to work at it. The vast majority of people never know what starvation mode is in their lifetime. |
