Thanks, Caleb. For breakfast I had three slices of whole wheat bread
with sugarless Smucker's strawberry jam which is delicious(remaining
1200 calories), one can of tuna for lunch (remaining 1060 calories), 2
tablespoons of peanut butter at 3PM (860 calories left for the day,
which is relatively a lot), 1 cup of cashews at 5PM (remaining 410
calories). Some people at that point would tell me, "One cup of
cashew, and you want to lose weight???". What they don't understand is
it does not matter what ***natural*** food (natural food as opposed to
junk food) you eat, it is your daily intake of calories that count.

I weighted 179 pounds six days ago, now I weight 172. I can certainly
gain back this 7 pounds in 6 days if I eated junk food. Since
September 2003 to May 2004 I weighted 166 pounds. I should get there
within 2 weeks. If I wanted to lose my belly altogether I think I
should reach 157. For some reasons I could not go below this 166-pound
mark. I guess I will have to work out every day to get there. I won't
reach my goal without excercise. Both aerobic and resistance training
will be my option.

I will try and find other tips for you, Caleb.

I'm going to try to do that today myself. It seems to me that in
someway it's like an analog clock versus a digital clock. At any rate
for me, an analog clock makes me more aware of how much time I have
left to do something. (Not only do I know the time, but I also know
automatically how many hours there are until six, or seven or the time
I walk, or...) With a digital clock, however, all I see is a starting
point of numbers.

Any other tips like that?

Yours,

Caleb

HOW CAN I GET HELP? WHO SHOULD I SEE!!

My plan is to eat 1500 calories or so a day. If I eat junk food, then
it MUST be included in my 1500-calories limit. What works best for me
in losing weight is write down ***everything*** that goes into my
stomach and how much calories it brings. Let's say I have 3 slices of
bread with peanut butter for breakfast, then I write:

FOOD CALORIES UNUSED CALORIES
==================================== ========= ===============
3 slices of bread with peanut butter 400 1100

I have a "budget" of 1100 calories for the rest of the day. I can eat
whatever I want, but I will use up a maximum of 1100 calories.

Tonight I ate three more slices of bread with peanut butter and jam. I
finished my day with a glass of whole milk (3.25%). That's another
trick for you, Caleb. When you feel hungry at night and your stomach
hurts, drink a glass of milk ***slowly***, it calms your appetite. It
takes me 20 minutes to drink it. The trick is to drink just a bit, and
put down the glass and wait several seconds before drinking a little
more.

Denis -- Sounds like you're well organized and on your way to your
goal!

Also sounds like you have managed to pack a lot of very filling food
into you daily calorie allotment.

Today I tried recording the calories consumed and calories left to
800, and it's worked out quite well. I still have 340 left (I don't
count the little skim milk I use in my coffee) but I don't think I'll
use up any more of it tonight. For dinner, vegall (canned veggies) and
chicken noodle soup, for 310 calories and about 3 slices of chicken
for 150.

And now I'm out of the kitchen and I'm not going back into there!

Thanks for your suggestion!

Yours,

Caleb

I am very glad for you, Caleb. You will see that it is a very easy
system to follow. We could call it, "Carolies tracking system" or
"Carolies monitoring system". I can eat whatever I want, as long as I
don't eat anymore than 1500 calories. 1500 calories for now, anyway.
With exercise I may have to increase.

In the last four days, my weight varies from 171 and 173. I play ball
hockey twice a week, but don't spend too much energy other than that.
I need to be more active! As well, I may have to reduce my carbs
intake. I should try meat instead of bread, I guess. But I would
prefer to start with exercise first. I don't think I can live without
bread on the long term.
